Soooo...there's so much to tell, I don't even know where to begin.

I'll just start with my new pistons, which I received from Partsouq last Friday...

Unfortunately, there's a problem with the pistons.

I ordered the exact correct pistons, and the correct part number is printed on the box.

However, the boxes contained the wrong pistons.

They were the flat pistons, even though the part number is for the domed pistons.

The flat pistons end in 11, and the domed ones end in 10...

I solved the problem with the wrong pistons relatively quickly.

I got myself a different cylinder head, the one with the smaller combustion chambers.

I got this head for a great price. 😁😍👍 A very good friend bought my beautiful, already completely rebuilt head from me for a price we could both live with.

I'm using the money I got for my finished head to have the new one completely rebuilt.

That way, I've almost broken even.

I'm only paying a maximum of 200 to 300 euros extra... I can just about manage that...🙈😉

Those are +1.00mm late 2F flat top pistons for the 61040 head? I searched the world for those - either Toyota branded or ART branded, the OE manufacturer - during my build and found exactly one set of them in a country that I cannot name. I went to GREAT lengths to get them to the US and they were not cheap. That’s great that Partsouq found some of them recently!

Oh, then I guess I have something rare.

I actually think that's pretty cool...😁

And yes, they were available at Partsouq and weren't really expensive; I thought the price was quite reasonable.

They had 10 pieces, but unfortunately, there are only 4 left at the moment...

Great price. I paid about $700 for my set of 6 (including shipping). Kind of a silly expense ... but my alternative was ITM brand Chinese pistons. My engine build goal was "as many new OEM parts as possible and build it like Toyota would have done at the factory ... plus 10%" and so Chinese pistons didn't go along with that. My +10% is the 1.00mm over and Delta cam.

That's pretty much my plan too.

My engine will also get a Deltacam 262 and a header.

And since I have to get the cylinder head machined again, I'm toying with the idea of installing Chevy valves this time...

Thank you so much...😎✌️

Hey friends,

I think the Melling valves are really great! 💪👍 Especially since I don't have to modify the valve guides and the original valve stem seals fit.

And of course, the price is also a big plus, compared to original Toyota valves. 😍👍

What I'm wondering right now is, which valve springs should I use with the Melling valves? The original Toyota springs?

I think so, right?

And what's also important to know is which keepers should I use, or rather, which ones do I need to order?

Because it looks like the original Toyota keepers won't work...🤔🤔

But knowing you guys, I'm sure you'll help me with that too. 😊😍
I can only repeat myself: I think it's really great how you all help each other here. This is by far the best and most amazing forum I've ever been in.

Thank you so much again, you guys are truly fantastic!!! 💪💪👍👍😍😍

I found that the Toyota valve stem seals were not easy to find, but it was easy to machine the head to accept chevy seals, so I did that. I used stock valve springs but the chevy keepers

Hi,

Thanks for the tip about the valve springs and valve keepers. 👍
Since I already have new, original Toyota valve stem seals, I decided on the Melling valves.

And I ordered them today at a great price, I think. 😍😍👍👍
Now I just need to find the right valve keepers...

Hello dear friends,

since my engine is still at the engine builder, I'm currently wondering which carburetor I should install.

I'm not entirely sure whether I should rebuild the original Aisin carburetor or choose a different one.

I'm considering whether to build an adapter for a 500 Edelbrock or use a 2-barrel Holley carburetor, either the 350 Holley or the 500 2-barrel Holley.

I'm really hoping for your help with this question.

What do the carburetor experts think?

Many thanks in advance, Jürgen 😎✌️

My vote is for rebuilding the stock Aisin. They work well and are trouble free.
