I went with Limco Sungle stage in Duge Beige. Everything but the hard top, front and back k doors are painted. There were two drips but nothing that won't sand out.

Looking good!

We need to get a old school 40 run on the calendar. MrPuggs needs to freshen up his!

If there's anything I hate more than paint, it's wiring.

Just a little more progress. Given that I stripped the poor girl 20+ years ago, its coming together pretty well. No, body line don't line up but for the punishment I put her through over the years it looks alright.

Good news. After almost melting my harness and chasing down what I thought was a bad ignitor, she runs. More to come as she won't idle and turn signals don't work..... it was a good evening.

Awesome work!

Spoke too soon. I've got a mean knocking noise that seems to be coming from the front, maybe bottom of the motor. I took the valve cover off and adjusted the valves hot but it's not a tick noise. This is a donor motor that I mic'd out and just replaced the bearings and rings on. The head was fully serviced and decked flat. Super frustrating. I did the screw driver to the ear thing and it doesn't sound like anything in the water pump or Alternator but I'll take the belt off and start it to double check. Next steps??

It sucks raking things back apart. I pulled on plug wire at a time buy there was no change to the knock. I removed the waterpump and Alternator belt with no affect. I've now pulled the pil pan and timing cover. All the rod, a d main bearings are torqued correctly. The trhust on everything measures good. The cylinder walls looks good. I'll check the wrist pin bolts tomorrow. The cam gear had between.006 and .008 of thrust. Pull the cam and replace the cam thrust plate? I'm banging my head against a wall.

So here's where I'm at. I pulled the radiator (being replaced anyway) and harmonic balancer. No change to the knock. I Pulled the sparkplug wires one at a time with no change to the noise. I checked runout on the crank shaft and it seemed good. I pulled the oil pan and pulled the #2 connecting rod cap. Bearing looked good. I double checked the torque on all the connecting rods and cam shaft bearing and they were torqued correct. I didn't plistigage anything again but may have to. Any thouhts?.

Listen to my video for about the first 5 seconds at idle - to me, sounds similar to yours at idle - then with some acceleration - can hear a whomping sound. At first while breaking in (trying to) hardly noticeable. the whomping sound kept getting more pronounced the longer I would drive it - total of 10 miles before noticed sound - was really just wanting to get engine to temp, then let it cool off. (edited for clarity)

For me, I almost spun a main bearing - caught it before it did more damage than it did.

Peeking in the oil filter is great inexpensive check - I dropped the oil pan.

I dropped the pan. I'll check out the oil residue Monday. I'm at the top end of the thrust for the cam gear so I'm going to order a new cam plate. I'll pull the crank caps tomorrow and see if things went south. The engine has 30 minutes of run time on it with 15 of that driving at low speed.

Sounds about right.

Good luck

Did you plastigage during assembly?

I feel your gut punch. When I pulled the pan I looked at the oil that I drained and didn't see any shimmer. I just looked at the pan. A bearing has definitely run out of Talent. Anyone have a running 2f they want to sell me? My kid leaves the country for 2 yrs in 30 days and we really wanted to wheel this thing together. Super frustrating.

Everything was plastigaged twice. I bought some from Oriely's that measured small. It was brittle and old so I got some off Amazon that measure good.
