The longer piece is actually curved at the end which was tough tondo because it's bent. I made it in two pieces then tig welded them together. Used the English wheel and planishing hammer, shrinker and stretcher on these.

I had already replaced the lower lip of the roof but there were a few other rust areas that needed patches. This one was the most difficult. Multiple curves can make it difficult to form steel. The old piece is shown in the first picture and you can see all the rust pits after sand blasting. I used the shot bag and hammer, english wheel and bead roller. Looks great.

I decided to remove all 4 entire door skins and make new ones. Once I attempted to make the 1st one, I realized I could replicate the original skin and all its body lines. Also, I was able to make consistently accurate panels that match each other. I ran out of steel today but I did get 3 completed. Getting the angles and radius was a little tough but it worked.

Glad I decided to do this because there was a lot of rust up high which I didn't expect. Photos of the 1st door I removed attached.

We thought disassembling the hood was also a good idea. And, it was.

The skin isn't crimped on anything, so you can actually drill spot welds and have a completely bare hood skin. Everything is 100% accessible to address rust now. The braces in this picture have a lot of rust, and none of this rust was visible before disassembly.

Back on this today. The quarter that I previously made a lower section for needs a few more patches. You can see two holes just above where I welded the lower part on. The third hole is under the round piece on the back, just like the other side I already repaired.
