Based on what I've seen so far I am very happy I passed on the current gen GX and haven't emptied my piggy bank on a 200 HE. Still need to see what packages and options are going to be available along with front end styling, seating options, etc (hopefully no more predator grill or 3rd row please!) but if thing thing checks all my boxes I will happily get on the wait list for one.

Hopefully we see the new LC by years end so that all this speculation can be laid to rest and decisions can be made.

I think there's no way this thing has the barn door anymore. They moved the button/handle to the middle right under the LEXUS badging. This is going to be a hatch. Rear glass looks to pop up like the outgoing model. You can see the very similar release button, and you can also see the hinges underneath the spoiler.

This one also has a 3rd row - you can see the small headrest that is further behind the 2nd row seat. Hopefully there is an offroad trim with only two rows. Whatever trim level they are showing us in this photo is different from the initial reveal. This one has glossy paint-matched fender flares. The photos from the first reveal show a version with matte black fender flares.

Yep, no one that bought these (soccor moms) liked them.
And it opens on the wrong side for the USA and LHD markets!!!

Its gone.

It's either a hatch or a barn, probably leaning towards a hatch but I don't think we have any confirmation right now either way. They wouldn't include the button/handle for the pop-up window if it was a split gate - there'd be no reason it would have both a upper section and a pop-up.
The new 2023 Sequoia has a hatch with pop-op window, replacing the outgoing hatch with slider window. Looks like that's what they've done here as well.

Interesting renderings released for what appears to be the LC 250. Pretty much what we’re seeing in the few pictures of the GX released. Thinking the GX front end looks much better if they don’t ruin the grill.
Still betting here that the LC/ GX will be seeing a $50k-$100K spread and we will see a budget based 4R with 2 door options similar to the taco and maybe even a removable top.
The LC/ now GX is a luxury based vehicle. Just doesn’t make sense to try to cheapen and mod them out unless they release a smaller EV variant.

If you count the grill, including the outside verticals, there's seven, same number as Jeep. That has been a Jeep trademark grill design since the 1950's Willys military jeeps.
Can't see Toyota doing that. but again...

Put an offset old school font Toyota and it would be like a 1st gen hilux 4wd

Alright, should we do some license plate speculation since they usually seem to mean something?

Not sure about the "7," but maybe the "34" alludes to the 3.4L TTV6...

No clue about "GDR."

Long shot… GD could be referencing the 1GD Diesel engine… plenty of talk about a mild hybrid version of the 1GD-FTV engine in recent years.

“Is this the 2024 Land Cruiser?”

No, it’s not. It’s just another clueless render job to generate some clicks.
Sources are from a major Japanese magazine that tends to be very accurate. Yet another video referencing the info from the magazine, this one has additional breakdown of size and weight of the LC/ GX. I mean, it's a rendering but look at all the lines compared to the GX and it looks pretty legit to me, :meh:

My only concern is it will probably be way too big as a trail vehicle. Overlanding, if you're doing mostly highway and tarmac, sure, but out in the wilds, one will be banging that thing up. And for the six figure price they'll be asking, something I don't think I can do. (At least till I win a lottery at least. )

The beauty of it is the GX may up-size slightly, the LC will come back down to earth in size and weight. Neither will be a Jeep or Bronco size, budget or cheap build if they get it right. If you compare to the previous GX/ 4R you should have zero concerns about it going into the wild. It may be out of your budget new of the lot, most not being 6 figures if half that, but very affordable as a second owner and a lot easier to come by used. This last Japanese magazine release is claiming huge off-road gains above the 300 series.
Seeing the LX600 going after a LX700h patent only sweetens the pot for the GX and a true twin turbo, non de-tuned V6. This would make more sense with Toyota up scaling the Lexus over the paired Toyota models as they should be finally, 20 years later they got it figured out.

Some additional specs released:

There’s a guy that goes by the name Carmaker1 over at Club Lexus who out of all internet speculators has earned my respect when it comes to sharing trustworthy and legitimate information with all things Toyo/Lex.

Turns out the videos you shared from David Chao and Kirk Kreifels discussing the LC renders in that latest Japanese car magazine do in fact hold some weight. According to Carmaker those drawings are pretty close to what will be the new GLOBAL LC Prado. However that is NOT the LC we are getting here in the states. There is more credence coming out that “our” LC is going to be Toyota NA’s Bronco/Wrangler competitor. Built on the new shared platform but with retro FJ / 70 series styling and a strong off road focus. Styling wise think something more along the lines of that render Motor Trend put out a couple months ago of the new 4Runner but with rounded headlights. Personally based on how close the Tacoma ended up being to that concept EV truck Toyota showed off a couple years ago I could see the NA LC taking many cues from that compact EV cruiser while again adding some more retro styling tweaks. Maybe offered in 2 and 4 door?

As these new models are revealed it starts to make sense as to how Toyota NA will market all of these similar and/or shared platform vehicles in their line up.

Sequoia: Large BOF SUV family hauler. With some towing capacity. This is the one you want if you’re hauling a ski boat or RV on your family camping trips.

Grand Highlander: Large unibody CUV family hauler for those that want a more refined ride, better MPG, and don’t need to tow much if at all.

4Runner: Mid size BOF SUV. Jack of all trades, master of none vehicle same as it’s always been. 4R was never meant to be a serious off roader playing in the Wrangler Rubicon/Bronco Badlands market. It’s a Grand Cherokee competitor in the old school sense of what the GC used to be.

Land Cruiser: Mid size BOF SUV aimed specifically at the hardcore off road segment. Something to truly rival the Wrangler and Bronco. Would expect OEM options for things like lift kits, 35’s, winches, etc.

Lexus will have their up market variants of a couple of these with the TX and GX. Important to note the GX will again be the Global LC Prado with Lexus trimmings.

Sorry for the wall of text. Only trying to share what I believe is relevant info and I may be slightly over caffeinated this morning.

They are certainly doing a great job holding on tight to the information LC coming out! Maybe even better than they did with the LC300...
I actually don't like the looks of that rendering of the LC but there are a few more of the GX on the web last few days that seem to have the same lines as what Lexus is releasing. Actually not too concerned onto the LC here as the wifey loves the GX and I just can't make myself get the 460, v8 or not...
Such a huge improvement in looks if accurate, and with them trademarking the LX700h, hopefully this means a true TTv6 coming to the GX as well!

I agree! New GX is very high on my list of potential vehicles to replace my 4R. If the new LC ends up being a super off-road machine like the Wrangler/Bronco I will probably stay away from it. Not a fan of driving something like that on the daily.

New 4R is something I can’t wait to see either but that is not expected to be revealed until around this time next year (with a fall ‘24 release as a ‘25 MY)
