2015 What have you done to your 4x4 lately?

Finally pulled the rear diff after Tuttle. Something gave out and the rear drive-shaft would turn, but the tires did not (DOH!). Turns out it was a broken cross shaft. Ring and pinion look OK (a little damage to the very end of a couple of pinion teeth but reusable, especially since it's a trailer queen). I think I'm going to replace the rear with a spool, and then replace the front Aussie with an air locker. I have an IFS width rear axle that I started to build up with rear discs, so I'm going to roll that into this project and just put a whole near rear axle under it and get rid of the wheel spacers.

Cross shaft broken into 3 pieces. You can see the end of the shaft sticking out on the left, and the broken center piece sticking out of the Aussie. It also peened the carrier over the lip of the ring gear, so I couldn't take the ring gear off until I got the broken pieces out and the dinged carrier out of the way.

So out came the cut off wheel. Never could get one end of the pin out of the carrier. Oddly, one of the carrier bearings fell off during dissasembly, it was not a tight press fit.

The edge of the cross shaft hole on the Aussie is the only damage I see to the locker. Not sure if this would be reusable in this condition? Teeth all look brand new.

wow, that is crazy. Congrats on not having to pick up some 5.29's.

Just cut a little off the top

That's awesome!

I love not having a neighborhood association.

Let me know if you need an extra set of hands tomorrow. Should be a free Saturday for me.

Don't forget Mitch needs one of the Front LCAs and one Rear LCA...

Got your name on the front one, forgot about the rear one. I knew you wanted to upgrade to the DOM. Should not be a problem. Is your old ones smaller OD or the thicker OD? If smaller, we likely can bend straight and then you can sleeve with the DOM.

So is it headed to the scrap yard

part of it will be. Keeping the front cab for mock up work for my FZJ45 extended cab. Cutting out parts of the frame for stretching the same FZJ45.

Trying to sell off Sturgis tub if anyone needs one, and I have a good frame off Sturgis.

Shot Raptor-liner on the bottom of the 40 tub last week. MileMarker60 and a couple other friends helped me get it flipped right side up so I can start prepping the topside for paint.
Lots of progress on the LX450. OME 2.5" lift (heavies), Slee caster plates, 315/75/16 Kumho M/T tires, Slee Shortbus bumper, Engo 10k winch, fixed floppy DS mirror, passenger seat gears, LED dome lights, blasted and painted stock wheels, CDL switch, sanded off pinstripes and buffed paint.

HOLY COW!!! You get any sleep lately? Where did you get the crack?

Armor up.

Oh, full disclosure... Mike -- this is on your axle. Happy B-day to you!

On the shaky mirror fix, did you do the zip tie method?
