On this head discussion, I am trying to decide what to do with the engine that came with boost. Ran it out of oil, bearings are not terrible, but definitely had a knock. So, I really can't see me ever rebuilding it.

I see it will become an anchor if I keep it.

I could part some of it out.......

I am thinking about pulling the head, and getting it machined down in Columbia and basically have it ready for anyone that does a head gasket job. That way, you can pull the old off, plop this on, then get the one you pull machined for the next person.

Any thoughts?

I'd be happy to provide the transport. I think it is a great idea. It will save one of us a lot of time.

Just want to help out the brotherhood.

Lol. I'm going to see how my parts sale goes to free up my funds. I really wanted to get the whole motor out of my 97 and reseal before CO but one month would put me on quite the time crunch. Having a head all ready to go would make the HG job about a 1 day event, two tops. Doing the work in the vehicle sucks pretty bad though. So many options.....................

Yeah, I agree, when you get everything apart, and all is fresh in your mind, it is quite a letdown to have to stop and wait a week to get the machine work done.

So the deal would be, you would take the machined head that is ready to install. Sounds like Sammy and Rob will be the transport to Columbia. I will front the money for the first rebuild. After you do the swap, the head from your rig would go to the machine shop and get done. You are responsible for the cost to get it done. If there are cracks or issues such the head is not rebuildable, you would have to come up with one that is good to replace it, so the next person can use it.

End of the day, no-one should be out any more money than they would have been if they did not use the "trade-in" head.

Note, this is only for members in TLCA and TAC in good standing.

At the full discrection of me (all powerful knight of the Head table who say "neigh"), there may be a deposit needed (a check I will hold until the replacement head is received). Call it a core deposit.

For those who haven't done the head, this would actually be a pretty sweet deal. Turn around time last time I had a head done was only a day or two. But in all seriousness, if you had a spare head and all your seals ready to go, your down time could be a single day. Albeit, you would need some whiskey and a hot shower at the end of that day, but it could be done. I'm going to take this into serious consideration. I need to get my spare vehicle up and running though before I open up Moby.

Been welding a little bit, have sunburn to prove it

Man, you are fast. Good work.

I found that some front lights are nice so you don't have to use your headlights and blind the person in front of you. Maybe 40' out beam, so I use a flood light.

Yep, now that you mention it I do remember Foo always wheeling with headlights off at night. Gonna have to add that to the circuit up front for sure.

Finished up the smaller LED's all the way around.

I don't have time to do a rock light install right now, I'm thinking about just cutting a hole in the PS floor board and having my wife shine the Maglite down there if we need to see anything.

NO NO NO!!! Don't cut up your floorboard! Just lay the tailgate down and have your wife lay down in the back, mad max style, and just lean down and shine the flashlight underneath!

That's a pretty good idea Mike, I'll tell the wife you thought of it !
