On the shaky mirror fix, did you do the zip tie method?
I didn't have "wobbly" or "shaky" mirror. I had "floppy" mirror, where the whole assembly flops forward when you stop and backward when you accelerate. Picked up a whole mirror assembly here on MUD and used the base to rebuild ours.
On a side note, I'll also be rebuilding the front axle tomorrow! No thanks to the guys at Duiser who took over a week to ship a knuckle rebuild kit that was incomplete. They also don't answer emails and their voicemail says they'll be back after Thanksgiving. Definitely on my "DO NOT ORDER" list from now on.

X2 agreed on CruiserOutfitters. Great guys there. Kurt is awesome. Only place I buy from.

Nice! I assume you are talking about me?

I ordered the seals/gaskets. Should be in this week.

Yes Sir.

Finished welding it last night. I like to stitch them in slowly to not warp the axle.

Hope to take all three of the axles to the sandblaster in the next couple days.

Why would you order from duiser? I don't think there prices are even good.

Kurt at cruiser outfitters. Website isn't great call and talk with them. They know there stuff. Have it in stock with any options you would want with bearing seals.

Honestly, their YouTube video on how to rebuild the axle was so good I thought I'd support them for producing it. Live and learn!

I managed to get everything disassembled and cleaned today with some support and guidance from Dave. Trying to decide if I need to replace a Birfield while I'm in there. One side is silky smooth, but the other side is a little stiff when I move it around. It drove fine before disassembly and didn't make any clicking noises in reverse. I'm half inclined to just swap them side to side and call it good.
Disassembly was very easy, since the truck has never been wheeled or seen salted roads. Tomorrow should go pretty quickly putting all the clean parts together.

Ya I understand I wanted to support them too. But the guy that did the video was 3 owners ago and it just gone down hill since then

Ok, got a new one for me. Found out the new front axle on the rig I bought was bent. Not terrible, but not good enough for me. Found a bunch of links of how to straighten. Luckily when you add trusses to Toyota axles, they typically bend some, so information is out there.

I am looking for a 6' length of railroad track or heavy I beam to use for the press to straighten it. Anyone have a section?

bottom of page is the jig I am going to use to make sure it is perfect.

Here is what I am looking to do::

This is an example of what I am doing now.... Works but not sure I can get it nailed down perfect.

About 6' long, and something that will not deflect with 20 tons jack. (likely not that much pressure)

Be sure to video it. I think the hospital is going to want to know how it happened. Sometime I should tell you how my buddy tried to jack up the floor with a bottle jack and an 8 foot 4x4.

This is from a car that we named Bobbit. It was half the car it was meant to be.

So are you planning on trussing the axle while your at it ? I wonder if thats true what they said in the article about the axles bending easily under the heat of the welder. I would like to truss my balls on the 97 just for a little extra insurance when i'm way out away from home or AAA.

A little fire resto to make sure it runs before getting serious. One owner 88 62 bought super cheap and looks to have a fairly fresh "gray" long block, thrans and transfer is bright and shiny everything from rear diff to radiator has been maintenanced well.

Much of the wire harness that lays high had to be replaced, all cut solder and shrink tube spliced with donor harness connectors, installed a new battery and built a fuse panel for fused link system, replaced throttle body including TPS, idle controller and mass air meter, broke down air pump and serviced bearings, all melted plumbing replaced with new and used parts.

After draining the tank of 13 gallons of 5 year old gas, a added 10 gallons of fresh fuel and 8 oz's of 44K... three or four turns of the crank and the ole girl fired right up and idles perfect. The throttle cable was destroyed and I have an NOS just in, I will install that and test drive tomorrow.
