2014 What did you do to your Landcruiser lately?

I like it in the corner. Maybe turn 45 degrees? If it went on the center of the hood, maybe make it bigger?

My buddy said he could get his plotter going if you are not in a big hurry or we can get some of the material he runs through it and cut out your own mask. He lives real close (Bell and Midland Drive) so it wouldn't be a big ordeal to get the masking material. I believe he said that his material is 24" wide.

Like the idea of putting it at an angle too.

I just shot primer on Foo yesterday, so I will be laying down color this week, and that would be the time to do this. So, I guess sooner than later, if you can get a 2' square of it, that would be great.

Getting some of the rust repair done. Rear sill, rear bed and left QP replaced. Still need to patch the right QP and patch the wheel wells.

I like the angled thought too, maybe even a little bigger and spilling over off the hood onto the passenger quarter panel...just another idea.

And I can come over this week too if you need any help making the decal.

Been wanting to get rid of the surface mount hitch/plow hook off the Slee rear bumper for some time. Started digging in today. Idea is to make a 2" receiver hitch through the bumper for more clearance.

My bumper was an early model so I needed to cut a hole.

Cut apart an old FZJ80 factory hitch and add a couple new tube pieces.

Invert and switch sides with the old hitch bolt flanges.

Tack the pieces together.

Why 2 tubes and all this work? :bang: The Slee bumper slips over the original rear cross member. If I ever damage the frame beyond repair I wanted to be able to unbolt the hitch and bumper to move them to a new rig.
New hole will be drilled through the inboard side of hitch and extension to bolt the two sections together. Also got a 1/4" 3x3 angle that will be welded to the hitch extention piece at the bumper face to provide chain attachment points and will bolt through bumper and cross member. With face bolts and through bolt removed the extension slips out of the new hitch location and Slee bumper. Then hitch and bumper unbolts as per normal.

I will post more pics after finish welding and a bit of rattle can.

Looking good Rob! Really coming together!

Rob and REM - simply amazing stuff although, very different ends of the "what I did today" spectrum :)

For me - - -

I am focusing on getting ready for SMORR with the '85 4Runner.

I have hearing some chatter in the engine that sounds like the valves. The interwebz warns that most often that sound is from the timing chain guides being torn up, so I pulled the cover with some worries. I didn't think the sound was the same.

The good news is that the timing chain guides look OK to me - at least at the top as far as I can see down, and I think they tear up from top to bottom from what I can tell (Colin, Rob, others?)? The engine also looked pretty clean - good enough to drive on some trails, anyway! :)

I adjusted the valve clearances to an "loose" .006 and .010 intake/exhaust as the engine was pretty cold by the time I got everything off and figured out. I had to adjust all but one, so I think the engine just was ready - it prolly has 50K now since its rebuild.

I'm waiting on some new half-moon inserts for the cover - should have back together tomorrow for oil change.

More to follow . . .

This PM, I added some extended breather lines. I need to figure out how to route them.

Well I added longer rear springs in prep for the crawl.....next finish my rear of the FJ. You all will see the final product soon. And right now I'm siting at the airport waiting for my cousin to arrive after he had to spend the night at the airport n Dulles dc. Is it September 18th yet?

I'm really looking forward to checking out your rig next week.

Foo is all painted and starting to put back together..... going to be a busy weekend!!!

Rob R. was right -- (dangit) -- that I should not beat out all those dents on Foo! She bit me back and broke my little finger. So, if I am holding up my pinky drinking the moonshine next week, understand that I still have my other hand to give you the bird.

Same, finally got heckled into getting pictures taken.
