Congrats on the sale. Now you can commit to the next project.

Yessir! Had trouble committing. It was nice having the balance in the account rather than the drain of time and money sitting in the garage. Made a trip to Dallas this weekend and couldn't resist. Drove this back yesterday. Wipers stopped working about 3 minutes after it started raining. Thankfully it only rained about 30 minutes.

It's a 1978 with a 3FE conversion. 4 inches of lift sitting on 33's, clears the garage door with 1/2 inch to spare. More to come for sure.

Spent most of the weekend catching up on projects around the house and in the garage. Got FOO going again. One of the two caliper bolts had backed out. I pulled them all and added some blue locktite. Went ahead and did the 1000 mile axle check and tightened all the bolts down.

On Lexi, two things. First these late year 80 series sometimes have battery drain issues. One issue is that the alarm can drain the battery faster than normal. So, I disconnected the box under the driver seat. I have been having issues on getting it to start (part of electrical issue), so I changed the starter out with one I got at the junkyard that looked brand new. Also took out the seat and fixed the controls for the driver seat that had broken off.

Put everything back together, and it would not start. Nothing. An hour on Mud later I found that taking the alarm out caused a starter interruption. Plugged it back in and all is well. So for the battery drain, I will have to figure out how to override the interrupt circuit.

Got some work done....

Pulled the engine and transmission! I'm hoping to get the frame all cleaned up and painted soon so I can start rebuilding it.

Today I finished stripping the hardware off the frame and power washed it for another hour or so. Then I blew the last bits of water and debris out of the boxed part of the frame with a leaf blower. It's really clean and almost no rust until you get to the back and then it's really just surface rust.
I broke out the angle grinder with a knotted wire brush and started wheeling it. For the most part, it looks great and ready for primer. Obviously, I'll never reach the inside of the frame or some of the tighter nooks and crannies. Should I just go ahead and take it to a sand blaster? I'm thinking I'll get a much better end result between the more thorough removal of old paint and rust and the better "tooth" for the primer to adhere to. The frame should be pretty easy for two guys to lift onto a trailer, right?

Yes on the sandblaster. then plan on getting primer on it immediately when it returns. There is some paint in a can that has a long hose that some guys use to get inside the box. Forgot the company.... Erik, what is that stuff?

Yes on two guys moving the frame.

eastwood sells a paint with a hose for the inside frame.. I used an eastwood gun to shoot the inside of the frame, had a long hose with a wand that I just kept moving along inside the frame. THen shot the outside with the regular HVLP gun.

1mac.... looks like the rear parts on Chris's build came from Hadley enterprises ....

Yes. Sorry. Did i miss a question?

Nope, I just stopped by to look at the progress 1mac has made last night, and recommended replacing the rear bumper and could not recall the name of the vendor.....

FYI, I am thinking that a new build thread is in order. He has made some great progress and has the fire lit to make this project move along.

I actually started a thread over in the Toyota Tech area when I first got the FJ40 in December. It's not nearly as "picturesque" as one of your threads!

Sliders

Spent some time trying to layout some sliders. I bought the frame attachment kit from 4xinnovations that you provide your own slider with. The only issue was with one bracket. The predrilled hole does not line up and the bolts hit the heat shield. Easily fixable on both counts. I am curious to see how strong these things will be once all welded up. Hopefully I can tack them up at work tonight so I can get the rest of my pipe ordered.

Hopefully I will get a 2.5" lift kit and some new tires ordred next week. Has anyone ordered tires off Amazon? I was amazed at some of the prices I found on there and my wife has the Prime account so I can get free shipping if I order from a Prime vendor.

[STRIKE]Hoping[/STRIKE] I HAVE to get all the additions done by July 10 as I am heading to Colorado for a 2 week adventure!

Very productive day today! I started out by sandblasting a bunch of miscellaneous parts at the DIY blaster. (I'll post a separate thread about that).
I've also been scrubbing and stripping my cruiser's engine for the past few days. I finished that this afternoon and got the thing painted.

I had another busy day today! Stripped and painted the oil pan that looks so bad in the above picture. Also stripped and painted the oil filter canister, bellhousing and some other smaller engine parts. Took off the water neck and polished it for a little bling.
Put in the proper air rail plugs and got rid of the crimped/JB Welded air rail tubes.

Did some prep work on the rolling chassis for sandblasting: Removed the vent tubes from the axles and plugged the holes with bolts. Drained the differentials and removed the bump stops. Took off the rear brake lines and disassembled the rear brakes.

All I have to do now is to put on some old wheels and tires and haul it off to the blaster!

Hope to have a new tow vehicle soon.

Love the UPS man! I didn't do it today but I drooled all over the stuff. Read up on the lift install and I am going to start on it tomorrow.
