Wayne,

How is it that I only just found this thread? More to the point, how is it that Dan never told me about it??!!:hhmm: What a great rig!! What is the paint code? is it 6L4? It looks like the same colour as my LX. I can't wait to spend an afternoon going through this whole thread.

Cheers,

Josh

the color is a Nissan code. close to Toyota but not quite.

thanks for the compliments.

1point4, it takes me 10 months to build and you a 1/2 hour to read? (you must really like Orange County Cruisers, they can build a truck like this in one show!!)

Like in Pimp Your Ride, where they covered up the rust wih checker plate LOL

Is this a clue as to who owns this incredible piece of art?

I wish!

Wayne: quick request for more pics of the steering box. Specifically, I'm looking to make sure I've got mine located correctly fore/aft. I looked through the entire thread this morning and didn't find one clear enough. If you could snap a clear picture of the pitman arm and it's relation to the frame (and a rivet or hole on the frame) then I think I'd see what I needed.

I can't stop looking at that snorkel. It is possibly capable of curing cancer--it's that sweet.

Dan

the vacumm canister location.
the air box to turbo pipe.
the snorkel to airbox.

have i mentioned that EVERYTHING on this rig is a TIGHT fit?

Muchas gracias Wayne! That's incredibly helpful to check the location of mine.

I like the toyota fuel filter there. If I didn't have a Racor for Dad's 40, that's exactly what I'd use. I like having the Toyota fuel filters and common spares for all of then.

Dan

i wanted to install the filter somewhere that made for "easy" replacement, since i needed to leave room for the oil filter that worked out to be acceptable. if the diesel leaked while changing then the drop-zone was basicly free of the painted areas.

Look great Wayne. Finally someone put the snorkel on the correct side of a 4x series --- The RIGHT side. Can you send some pics to Safarri so they get it :)

Really like the rear seats, for a monment I thought they were out of an LJ.

Like the PS, is that off of a 70 or a 60 series? as much as it looks like a lot of room in the engine bay of a 4x, with the 1hz it looks pretty tight.

Cheers,

Michael

The Beast J40

Guys

I have seen this thing live. Like I have said before this truck is way over the top (SICK).
I swear you could measure this truck with a body guage and some feeler strips it's that nice.

Wayne, thanks for all your help last week, part came today. Goes on when I get home at 4:00am ,then a test drive.

been slow getting updates posted, sorry.
what was missing off the hood? everything looked fine but something suddenly jumped out...
washers, on the factory hood you do not have a scoop and the washer is dead center so of course as i am doing the build it didn't dawn on me that i would have to install some.
factory is one in the center but now i needed two.
or
centered on the scoop (LOL!! yah right)
or behind the scoop, too close to the glass
outside of the latchdowns, didn't look right.

so this is where they ended up... and it looks clean (at least in my eye)

i didn't want to drill a bunch of hole, but at the same time the hoses needed to be attached securing to the hood. silicone works VERY well in this application. once dry, unless you really yank on the hose, the silicone holds etremely well ... and looks clean afterward.

no?

the one real PITA with doing the HDT top cover over the stock 70 series box is where the latches are located. one ends up directly under the down spout and it SUCKS to open and close.
i took an old box and cut off the latches and installed them on the proper location on this box. now there is 4 latch downs plus the latches are MUCH easier to work.

final couple shots of the washer location... clean?
