Whoever said u cant work in the dark??
Headliner finally off...frankly it was a piece of cake except for a few rusty bolts....nothing torn..cracked or damaged...except my cruiser' dignity for being naked

Will upload images once power is back ....been off for a couple of hours now....moral of this post....u own a cruiser. ..act like it

part6

after the rear wrap is released...u need to hold these 'hangers' that hold up the rod to the body....just hole them with pliers and move the rod backwards, that will release it from the hook

Headliner is down.....no cracks, no damage, no tearing...
p3.jpg

still have this layer of pre-historic insulator intact....seems its glued to the roof

p4.jpg

frankly it was a piece of cake to remove the headliner in ONE piece....the only thing was the amount of dirt and the rear window removal.

thank you very much...Mr. Tee....as Hannibal used to say in the A Team...i love it when a plan comes together....loool

we never stop learning, and every one has some knowledge to give... thanx again

question...because i want to prepare the wiring.... as im not into massive amplifiers and boom boxes....would running the audio wires near the power wires (tail lights and power windows) have any effect....i did have hissing and all sorts of noises...but i guess they came from a few shorts here and there..

i want to set the wires....colour coded and taped together tomorrow till i get round to finalizing them...any help/advice appreciated.

and if anyone has a basic guide to what wire gauge to use for connections....im sure Toyota used the 'appropriate' type...but does it give enough juice?

btw...fishing trip cancelled...weather forecast seems blazing hot..Nile perch and tilapia needs even a breeze to approach the surface...the more the waves the more the fish...so more time and love for the cruiser tomorrow

yes running speaker/amplifier wiring with power wiring will result in bad hum and hiss.

so do i need to buy shielded audio wire or what?...if i find various routes to and from the back, i still end up with audio wires behind the dashboard...where power wires are massive in comparison to the tail light wiring...

i was actually thinking of designing the center console to house the stereo....hmmmmm....then i could use the original opening for my Garmin 276c GPS.....

im not too keen on installing video player etc in the car.....i guess kids these days have lost the 'human' connection by plain old talking....its now just click, like or even worse...poking....looool..... i intend to enjoy timeless conversations with my family in all our journeys.

Oh sorry small little power wires will be ok, I just meant if you are running a large power wire like 0 gauge you will not want to run your speaker wires and amp wires next to it.

good to know..i do intend to install a second battery, but located in the engine bay....so i will avoid running that wire near anything that squeaks ..

thank you very much

Spread 'em....

The headliner....sun is coming up, so i thought why not give them a pic.

next up...remove the whole moon roof enclosure.....first i have to remove all the silicone the PO sealed it with

hd1.jpg

If I recall correctly someone had good luck using a hand drill or buffer and a wheel of some sort with soft bristles to remove the old jute padding. Hard to make out, but was there something added over the original floor??

Moon roof done

18 bolts...one silicon removal....and its out....removed the glass first....then lowered the rest of the enclosure down....was so full of dirt it actually didnt move ... i thought i forgot to untie something.....few taps here and there....and i needed another shower
