A later style grill would definitely make fitting A2A easier, but I think it’s been done using the older, cooler style grill. Maybe by spacing it out an using the newer style turn signals?

Still trying to decide on an intercooler…

I should Probabaly just pull the A/C and stick it there. I’ve owned this since 2019 and the a/c has never worked.

Not that I’m dropping PDI money, but it appears that setup works with a/c and a different grill mod. I like to keep options open if I ever want to put it back and have A/C when I retire to Arizona….


Thoughts ?

I never had the a/c work on any of my rigs.
It seems to be the last thing to ever be done on any offroad rig.
Each year I promise to myself that next winter, I will sort the a/c out ....
For some reason, it never happens

Im hoping the last week with the hard top on. Im really late this year.


Project parts on the way. Finally starting the intercooler project. Well at least some cheap testing to begin with.

@svsisu offered me some of his water to air intercooler setup if I was interested. Still trying to decide if I can fit that?

In the meantime I have a couple Air to air intercoolers on the way. Probably going to route the turbo side similar to this:

Yeah I *think* it can still be routed this way and keep the a/c with what I’m trying to do. I think I’m going 2.25” pipe which should flow plenty at over 500cfm. Of course bends/drag etc can change that but it should be good.

We shall see, I could just be trying to invent a better mousetrap. Lots of research on boost/intercoolers/air dams, flow rates

Actually , I’ve been staring at the bulb on the right turn signal since 2018… Joeri was nice enough to send me the small green plastic piece no charge.

I didn’t realize how much I stared at that bulb and tried to figure out how to find that piece over the years. So big tech project done!

This timing cover…this is after I cleaned it off.

The bolt has stopped leaking after I put a little sealant on. No apparent other leaks. So now it’s apparently leaking or just started from the backside. It’s not a huge leak, but it’s really annoying. I’ve had this thing leak free and would like to keep that way.

So this is basically the last gasket from the engine’s Australia kit. I can’t recommend any gasket from their kit. I’ve replaced every gasket from that kit.

Now this one will be a huge pain to do. All timing gears have to come off to pull that inner cover. Cam out, crank gear, injection pump Removed…

Lasted 6 years since rebuild, but man completely not looking forward to replacing that gasket.

Part: 11312-56040. Will have to go searching for it. Aren’t 30yr old rigs fun?

I'd try this stuff before ripping that cover off. I used it to seal a leaking intake manifold on my 1FZ. Saved me tearing down the top half of the motor.

I'd try this stuff before ripping that cover off. I used it to seal a leaking intake manifold on my 1FZ. Saved me tearing down the top half of the motor.

It doesn’t even leak that much. Nothing drips on floor. leaking vehicles just drive me nuts!

Received some test pieces. Big difference between the 2. 1 used, 1 new.

The small one is an eBay special universal.
18.5” X 13 X 6 1/2 approx with the core being 13x6.5x2.75. I’ll measure for sure

The bigger is used from a 944 Porsche. @Gun Runner 5 had mentioned of one on one of his rigs so for a cheap price I took a flyer with some ideas.

It’s 23.75x5.5x5 with the core 18x5.5x5.

The photos make it look like it hangs down pretty low, but it’s up there.

RX7s which share a lot with the BJ74 will use a flat front mount or V mount. Well, in fairness the engine in RX7 are 13b


If I try to mount it there, it will definitely need ducting to make it work properly. It wouldn’t be that hard at all in that spot. Just thinking

I think it’s just too big is the issue. I need to do some more looking at it. It can’t really tuck up there, it’s too thick. It’s definitely a better built intercooler.

I will say I don’t have a heat problem per se.
