Great work, this shows that simply buying a 12Ht (which are now nearly 30 years old) and dropping it into your vehicle just because its still running is just a matter of course.

They may run for 400,000km but at 30 years of age they do need an overhaul.

Coolant filter and dump pipe arrived from oz today unfortunately I only had an hour or so to work on it this evening. I'm surprised these coolant filters aren't sold state side I'm am very impressed with the quality. It's billet aluminum anodized black.

Couple of more parts on. I powder coated the heat shield for the steering column while it was out and coated and trimmed the splash shield for the newly placed frame mount. Put the compressor on and turbo and belts, alternator belt is loose awaiting arrival of new alternator.

Old and new dump pipe side by side. The new one uses a much more common flat 3 bolt flange. It has a provision for an egt probe. The probe bung is post turbo which isn't as accurate but I really didn't want to remove any heat shieds on the manifold and potentially weaken it by drilling a hole.

What engine mounts did you end up getting, and how easy were they to source?

Cheers

the block and rubber isolators came with the engine as well as the small steel wedge shaped pieces. The frame mounts I purchased from ebi in Vancouver they were sourced from a rusty hj60.

I work at a honda dealership so I get a ton off brand new hardware to use on my trucks but apparently 8×1.25 bolts with attached washer are hard to come by, at least identically matching ones. So I spent the morning at the local wrecker grabbing bolts off of late model toyotas. So all my exhaust shield bolts are practically new and all match as they should. I probably salvaged 15lbs of hardware this morning :)

What an inspiration. Is there a like button for an entire thread?

Exemplary. Thank you for posting!

Powder coated flywheel plate going on. Then resurfaced flwheel. I put blue loctite on the flywheel bolts. The clutch kit was purchased for a 2f fj60 I had been told they were the same but wasn't sure about the pilot bearing, throw out bearing etc. The 2f bearing fit the 12ht crank like a glove! Blue loctite for the pressure plate bolts.
