Builds 1985 FJ60 Gets a Holley Sniper EFI Setup

I’m liking the Holley setup on this hi-po 2F project. I was nervousAF firing up a new engine, even more so with a fuel injection kit (lots of possibilities for mistakes), but the Sniper fired right up. Just needed the timing set to idle smoothly.

I have driven it a little, and it runs great. Have to switch to a header (bad EX manifold) and put the factory air cleaner back on before I can fully evaluate.

Is that in a pig or a 40 Cam? @FJ60Cam

Based on the engine compartment design and the louvers in the hood (edit + the rounding on the hood), I am betting a 40.

Yep, 40.

Besides the Holly FI, what other mods did you do during the rebuild?

Largest O/S pistons available from Mr. T (1.5mm over, now a 4.4L motor), bigger Chevy valves, and mild RV grind on the cam. The head was minimally shaved to keep it cheap gas compatible.

@Dustin Messina Did you get the AN fittings from Cam when you got the pump or are the needed fittings elsewhere in the parts list in the first post? (is that list updated/current?)
Thanks

I did not get them from CAM. I tried a few different types and went with the 45' 6 AN fittings. The biggest thing with the pump that I highly recommend that @FJ60Cam talked me into is the access door for the pump. The screws and seals leaked on both mine and his and the access door was a life saver. Get the 4"x8" door from Tanks Inc or Cam may be able to line it up for you. When you install pump get some fuel resistant sealant coat all thread of the screws and the heads. I also did a ring on top of the gasket and then another ring once the screw was tight. This helped and stopped the problem or would have prevented it. Keep me updated on your sniper build, that is a great price on them right now!!!

Future retrofit kits will come with o-rings to seal the bottom of the screws! Still recommended to seal the threads first.

The AN fittings that screw into the pump plate can be ordered with the pump, then just source the 90s or 45s in your favorite style of your fitting.

I got the plate fittings form Cam and and then sourced some Earls 45s.

That’s the one.

I was thinking if I did a Sniper again, I would use a Corvette style filter/pressure regulator back near the tank and just run a single supply line to the Sniper, and cap the return at the unit.

That would simplify the lines above the intake/exhaust manifold.

I'm a little late to the thread so I apologize. I know little about fuel injection. Can you compare this setup to a 2FE build?

I ran mine in the factory location and they aren't bad. Even used the fuel line bracket on passenger side fender to hold lines. I assume it would be different on the 40 tho.

Anyone know what the difference is between these kits and the "Master Kits" that are a CPL $100 more?? #tyvm

Those come with fuel pump, fuel hose, filters, and a few fittings.
