WoW mate that is 1 truly awesome build up dam near amazing looks factory , ive just got a 6/82 LX 4sp stock as a rock with the same winch rust proofed from new 1 owner and i thought it was clean , i actually bought it after seeing this build up back in august searching google for info , theres a pic or 2 in my user thingo , check it out , and hey werent you the fella with the sliding winda`s`` :))
what happened there ?

i wil check ur rig out, thanks. on the windows, the felt inside the slides cannot be obtained and anyone I asked didnt have an answer, so I bought late model hardtop sides with pop out vent windows, and had all LX specific rear seatbelt and plastic paneling mounts taken off old sides and welded on new sides.

And so my bad luck continues!!!

Diesel shop today finally got off their a**es after much procrastination and while inserting one of the two liners in the block cracked it so I have to order another from CANADA,

what gives???? I told them I only had today to put this engine back in cruiser for they were suppose to have done by today, we showed up and the engine looked exactly as it did 2 weeks ago, no change, is anyone worth a sh** anymore, is there any customer service anymore, does anyones word mean anything? So now I have no choice but to load my cruiser on a car hauler and haul it 3 hours back to my folks house and I have to go back to work in Maryland and wont be back down for sometime, my parents will have to drive down with a trailer to pick up engine whenever the diesel shop decides they want to finish it????

This sucks!!

suggestion,
go retrieve the block and associated parts and find someone that WILL do the build.

the reason shops act the way they do is because they think they can get away with it. rebuilding a diesel engine is no different than a gasser, you have mains, cons, rings, gaskets and seals. it isn't till you hit the pump and injectors is there anything a bit different.

you will loose money but in the end you will end up with a engine you can trust. with these guys can you REALLY trust the outcome?

bummer

cheers

I agree with Wayne. The only reason they act like that is because they haven't had enough people come take their marbles and go home.

I guess I'm unclear as to how you can crack the block while inserting a liner, unless you are doing it REALLY badly. These guys sound like the suck to me.

Dan

not sure, they cracked the liner not the block thank god! they r the best around in my area, in bus for over 30 years. they will get it straight, just jacked up my plans of driviing home this week.

That's a shame Roberto. Wouldn't it just be easier to get a 13bt to drop in? Surely it would be cheaper than all this crap you have been going through.

Josh

Wow, I love it. I am a purist, love the color .

Note! Most Diesel shops know nothing about Toyota diesels. Next F-up they do get it out of there. Hopefully that wont happen.
Happy New Year!

yeah my luck is running great?? we will seee whats next, I am going to need to take on another job?

Happy New Year everyone!!

Rob

Hey guys,

I have just one silly question, I have a Canadian 3b and my oil filter points up. Really makes a mess when changing the oil, I see in your pics yours points down? Is this a 70 series thing or a RHD thing? Was it a Mod for the turbo? Looking at a turbo for mine and this would make some room. anyone know if it is possible in a BJ60?.

Love the turbo setup, top notch job.

Terry

Terry,

hopefully someone will chime in for I have noticed this as well but never asked the question, I have seen them both ways?? thanks!!

R

Hello Mountain, yes that is consistant with the BJ70. Recently a guy who put on my turbo kit had the same question as it interferred with the installation. So he had to purchase the oil filter housing/assembly from Spector. He said it was about $70.00. Makes for alot easier and less messy oil changes for sure.

thanks for the comments fellas, got the cruiser back up to my folks place 3.5 hour drive from where my engine still is, hopefully in a few more weeks I can get the engine back in??? making the roof rack as I go, using kendorf which is heavy duty used to hold electrical conduit on ceilings in commercial jobs, in these pics it is galvanized but getting some new stuff in stainless, and then 5 pieces 48" long that are smaller in height will go across these 2 pieces spread apart every 12" on center and then buying recycled plastic grey decking board from Home depot for the slats, they will be 64" long x 4" wide with 2" gaps inbetween the slats. Just ordered the Man-A-Fre 1045 rear bumper/tire holder/ cooler carrier yesterday, will get that on when it arrives in a couple weeks. got a matching second battery, and installed my subwoofer box under my rear seat/ JL Audio 8W7.

Man 'it isn't' free rear bumper is sweet but the latching system gets old fast and the powder coating is crap.
cheers

yeah I heard someone else complaining about the paint? oh well, its a cruiser, its not gonna stay fresh forever. its built though from what I read? gets the split rim off my rear quarter panel. And its $150 cheaper right now so basically shipping for free

R

i like the build, it is tough but it is sad that mass production they can't correct the PITA latching. one off i can understand.

yep, it is a truck but darn, it is a nice truck!!

Still a go to be by your parents place around noonish on Saturday to pick up the hood - looking forward to seeing this thing in person. Beautiful.

Will be picking up a 14 bolt in Georgia, the hood from you, dropping the 14 bolt in Ocala, picking up a 60 axle housing and then picking up a 2F and a scooter in St. Pete. You need anything dropped off down there?

I agree. I got mine without paint, and I simply rattle can it every year or so when it starts to chip. The latch is annoying, but (on the positive side) it is very simple and never breaks.

Overall, I really like my Man-a-Fre rack on Patches. I only wish I could get one all the way down here for my LX. However, after all of my Aussie Customs dramas with the tires, I will be waiting for all major items until we move home.

I think your rig will look great with the rack, Roberto.
