Let’s just say it took a little convincing. Spot welds right on top of the frame rail provide lots of opportunities to learn patience and persistence!

Taking a little break to post update of this morning’s progress. Time to clean up the lips that the floor rides on and start fitting and installation.

BTW, in case anyone is wondering, why, yes, that point that the transmission jump makes is sharp and can easily rip pants!

I’ve got to go give an exam, so only had an hour this morning. But, cleaned up the rot around the step and began fitting the driver’s side floor. Just need to fit the transmission hump this afternoon and move to passenger side.

That's the second one I've gone through and it's in pretty bad shape. Guess I need to get back to Fenway to get another! The boys and I are suffering major baseball withdraws. Need

Everybody loves sausage, but it's ugly to make.
Ran into a roadblock today. My cheap high/low $100 mig isn't going to cut it. My practice welds were terrible. Now, I'm going to have to invest in a real gas mig, cart, bottle, ....

You won't regret it.
I have no firsthand experience but I hear good things about a few of the current Harbor freight mig welders.

Harbor freight is about $100 cheaper than an equivalent Lincoln from Home Depot - 140, 30A, 110v, gas mig.
Of course, there’s really nice migs that are about 4 times the price of these too.

Bought a used millermatic 135. Got a good deal, but it needed some care to make it operational again. Four trips to Napa later and it’s working better, but still needs a bit of work. Here’s today’s progress. Special thanks to Bob for his help!

ps. Why don’t we have baseball now??? It’s a social distancing sport complete with gloves, pants, hats, .... We need normality and there’s not much that can top the normality of baseball for Americans! My wife says I need to write the commissioner’s office.
