One down. Another to go???

I need advice. My son says don’t swap the engines. It’ll be a pain, but the clutch is worn and here are the compression numbers. The clutch would need replacing in a year if it was a daily driver, but I’ll only drive maybe 1/2 the time. What do you all think? I’ve got a new aisan clutch ready to go, the cherry picker, and the donor engine.

I think your son may have some points. I know the intakes changed over the years as Toyota was trying to comply w/ EPA specs. Finally in '79 they went to a cat converter (Put cats in, get dogs out).

You may have a lot of monkey business switching intakes and exhausts and EGRs to get the swap "right".

Maybe it is worth it to not spend the $ it costs to rebuild a 2F?

We'll see, you and Nate might be right. Maybe tomorrow we try and install new engine??? Didn't get a whole lot done today since yesterday kinda wore us all out!

In the midst of it! Whose idea was this??? @PabloCruise ??? @RUSH55 ???

Only managed to bolt in 4 bolts in 4 hours. They were the 4 connecting the tranny to the engine though! Did @RUSH55 say this would be easy? Had to our in smaller bolts through the holes to bellhousing and ease them together 1/8 of a turn at a time. I tried and tried different angles and heights waiting for the to just kiss. No such luck though. Oh well, it’s in!

For sure. Nate (one wearing the cardinals hat) has already requested the 40 when he’s old enough. Even more, he’s begun to take ownership telling me his thoughts on what we do with it. The engine was an accommodation on his part. I’ve got a nice tuffy center console from the parts truck and Nate says it’s a no go. Also, no paint. Original patina. Love it!

No 55 work today, but hoping to get going again over the Thanksgiving break. The fall semester has been a busy one for me.

Anyways, tree work today. We cut down 3 huge dead pine trees last Saturday. Today was time to clean up the logs.
