Hats off to you for tackling all that body work. It's looking good!

I want to do the same to mine soon but it's a big job and I know it will take a ton of time and energy. I'm dreading it but also dying to get started.

Keep those pics coming.

It sure is a ton of time!! It is also difficult because I didnt document where everything was and is as well as I wished i would have because I never expected to have this much time into it!!
I havent posted for a while but I have still been putting a lot of time in on it! I just got home from working on it as usual and it is 11pm and i have to get up at 5am BUT we got the tub wet sanded and I finished the doors and hood this weekend so i am off to pick up the paint and clear tomorrow 420.00 more gone!!:bang: Oh well we are shooting it on Saturday and I plan to give it a few days to cure and then spray the inside of the tub with the gray durabak!! After that it is back on the frame!!!!!

Screw it I am tired of typing here are some pics :)

I am kinda disapointed at myself you can see in this last picture I have a small high spot on the driver side. It wont be very noticeable at all especially where it is but I just dont know how I missed it!! Oh well it is kinda like the first dent so i hopefully won't have to put one in there to get it over with!!

looking better all the time

paint looks great you'll appreciate it more when the soreness goes away!

looks sweet though!

I've got some dents to deal with but I am thinking I will put off the exterior body work till it is up and running cause I am moving

I do envy the space you have to work in that is a big plus

Thanks guys!!! As for the soreness it just kinda mixes in with the soreness from digging out my holes for my polebarn/shop.......:)

As for the room I have to work in......... It is an old lamination mill and that paint booth is inside it plus a two story apartment plus probably 15 fullsize vehicles yet i still park in the shop when i drive up it is crazy!!!! I am very lucky my buddy is great!

As for looking sweet man i hope so :crybaby::)

I got stuck with Jury Duty today so as soon as it is over i have to haul a$$ for town to pick up the paint for Saturday

Man o man I dont know about this painting thing................ Just simply cleaning up, masking it off, hanging the parts, last minute scuffing, degreasing, sealing, painting, and clearing took from 9am to 9:30pm. :frown: Well that batch of parts are done at least! :) Here are some right before it was go time and just after they were sealed

Here are a couple after the base coats were applied. They look brown in the picture but they looked dull dark dark dark grey standing there. At first I was like :hhmm: but then we had to do a little color sanding on the hood and when we sprayed the degreaser on it I was like :D

Here it is after clear! We ended up perfect up until the clear where we earned our selves a couple runs and sags so guess what i will be doing today........ I will try and get some pictures in the sun with a real camera so that you can see the color because again it looks brown. :meh: It is actually a really really dark gray that has a lot of real fine metalic in it so it looks smokey. When the sun hits it you see a red pearl. I know that is so not a factory color nor is metalic but I like it :D

The color is paint code G5 and it is a factory ford color I think since 2005 but to better answer your question it is a charcoal gray with a light metalic that makes it look smokey and a heavy pearl with red and yellow. In the sun the red really shows up.

Here are some pictures of the gray durabak in the tub. One gallon is not enough if you spray it! I got the cover for the gas tank but ran out and have a couple light spots plus the tunnel still to do. In the sputz gun i used you had to open it up a bit so it was hard to apply thin coats but if you necked it down it would clog.

We overlapped all the edges by about a half inch (first body line) with undercoating so that if i scratch or wear it off in the future i can touch it up. Since the pictures suck so bad i took the one above to show my reflection and how undistorted it is. I am very very very pleased with everything so far and am getting more excited by the day.

More knickel and diming! :bang: I know I could have saved some money by going down to my local fastenal bolts store but :meh: I started at CCOT planning to buy door seal kits but after reading post after post i am completely confused as what to do. The CCOT are claimed to be junk and the SOR are 1/2 say ok and 1/2 say junk and I havent quite figured out if my 76 year is discontinued from toyota yet so i will call tomorrow. I do not want the metal chrome trim on my windows so I want the 1980's right????? Thanks

LOL!! It honestly would take a while! I have been basically one to two FULL days on the weekend and about two to three after work days for about 3 months. I couldnt have done this kind of work on my own though I had a painter friend keeping me straight and wacking me every time I even thought about cutting a corner!!

As usual I worked on it again tonight and put the windshield frame guts back together, pinned the hinges back on, cut, buffed, and polished the rest of the parts. (Even though I built a ventilation system and sprayed the booth down with water prior to painting it is just nearly impossible not to get a few specs of dirt in the paint) I also purchased a cheap car cover to get by for a couple weeks until i can get it home. The externally balanced 400 crank showed up from orangefj45 yesterday so now I am a step closer to finishing up the motor enough to place it all back on the frame. THEN THE TUB ON THE FRAME!!

gorgeous

Man that looks great, hard to believe that is the "s***ty pants" LOL

Ugly Betty started tonight-I am stoked!

That's a great color combo---unique but it works for a 40

Ball Milled Valve Covers SB Chevy SBC Aluminum Alum NEW

PS I am not trying to show off by posting this just simply trying to share cost information ;)

Also the damn valve covers are my first dang chunk of bling bling but grey or black or anything other than polished was spendy!!

I also have the doors hanging on the tub with most the hardware other than the glass in them..... I also spent till late last night mating the drivetrain back together and bolting back down on the frame!!! I am heading over to try and load its dead weighted $%^ onto my trailer to haul it out to the tub where I can bolt them together!! Then more pics to come

My FJ picture was terrible so i deleted and will repost tomorrow....

Since I accidenty bumped my build thread I might as well add something. Here is a pic of my newest project that I am not starting till my fj is done. Building this FJ keeps reminding me of back in the bobbed off camo yota days so I thought what the heck I cant/dont want to beat my inhereted FJ so I will start looking for a ford ranger to cut the living crap out of and beat......... Next thing I know bam there's a 200.00 Ranger staring at me and it has radius arms and a 44 in the front and a 9 inch with a spool in the rear. It came with bad np435 and a in/out T-case and is set up for a SBF so it will end up with:

NP435 rebuild
NP205 with a 203 gear reduction box (doubler)
Bobbed bed (possibly dove tailed)
Remove those flares before trees do
bumpers
Warn 6000 (only because i have it)
Further cuts on the fenders andwith hopes to minus some body lift (has 3" now)
Wristed radius long arms moving the front end forward 3" or so
Four linked rear allowing me to bobb the back of the bed.
Ford 302
External cage
High steer and get rid of the wacky/crappy steering z links and crap
Remove the factory engine saddle and redesign motor mounts for increased axle housing clearance
Hack as much off the bottom of the 9" as i can
Probably 38's only because even that is pushing it with the axles because they are both the crappy splined versions but :meh:
