Great, I might have a tank strap for you!!

Cool. If you can't tell from picture I'm missing the lower strap closest to the PS rocker panel. Shoot me price when you get a chance...

My 62 has a centered rear axle but a 3 speed TT that is not. I get a lot of vibration from the driveshaft when it's driven.

Should I swap the centered rear axle for a later offset rear axle?

Can I swap in the the rear diff without issues?

.

Direct swap, but 62,s came like this from the factory, check your u joints and balance the driveshaft, should be ok, ps still looking for the strap!

So is the centered diff / offset transfer case the reason for the wobble?

Or technically with right driveshaft should work?

Maybe is should balance driveshaft first before messing with centered axle housing.

As mentioned above, center diff was stock on a '62, so ya, I would check everything else first for balance.

I finally got time to fit seat brackets for curiosity sake...

Opinions wanted on tires.

I'm looking at Coker L78-15 Vintage Truck tire or Coker Firestone Military 700-15 tire.

They are both Bias Ply tires but as I understand appropriate for a '62 and I won't be cruising on the highway.

Thoughts?

I've read that thread, no negatives other than road noise? or did I miss something.

Here's the rest of the story. I have a eBay 10% off coupon anything in eBay Motors Parts and Accessories that expires tomorrow.

• Applies to one item over $75 in Parts & Accessories
• Maximum discount is $100
• Offer ends September 23, 2012
• Your coupon code: CPASPT13

Their both Coker brand tires sold at Summitt Racing and FREE shipping.

Vintage Truck tire is an L78-15 $702.95 less 10% = $630 ish delivered.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coker-Vinta...086&pid=100016&prg=1006&rk=6&sd=370647266516&

Military Tire is 700-15 $552.95 less 10% = $500 ish delivered but also require tubes.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coker-Fires...648&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=1&sd=370647266516&

The Yokohama would be close to $732 + $69 shipping = $802

Im thinking the tubeless L78 is looking pretty good for the money.

I will be selling some FJ40 items I've been stashing including wheels and tires currently on rig, Auxillary Fuel Tank and some 70 to 78 hard doors in good shape to help finance these expenses.

the L78 is made by STA...i posted a link to it in the on army tires 25 thread

they will wear fast...they are bias....however....they are very stock/vintage looking of a tire

mil tyre will also wear fast...and overall traction is sketchy at times

the Yoko will wear the longest...and look good as well

whats the max size your going for?

I'm looking more at look and cost than size.

I think 9.50 is as wide as I would go to stay in the wheel wells, but that might be too wide.

and 30" to 31" as riding on stock suspension.

The 10% coupon is spurring me to do something right away on eBay. Tire Rack sells on eBay but Yokohama 742S not on eBay. I thought about calling them and asking if they would create a listing for me.

Damn, after more searching

TireRack will not create a listing on eBay $800 delivered (don't know about tax)

Discount Tire will match but $95 tax = $895

I'm going have to go the STA route I think.
