i dont know, thats pretty far down the list.
gas tank and wiring harness are well ahead of that at the moment.

Don’t know about early 40’s, but black bumperettes were an option (maybe) on early 45s.

Are you thinking the triangle-based mirror on mid-60’s? If so, no those are not original holes, but maybe someone put one of those mirrors on this rig.

I noticed that a while ago, that is a late 62 to 64ish windshield frame. Yours should have the three hole mount type which came on FJ25s and early 40s. Looks like PO had replaced the windshield frame at some point and just screwed on the mount over the newer style windshield mount.

First and second stolen photos shows frame you have, third shows frame you want. Both frames are the same, just different mounting types on the inside.
Like other Cruiser parts the correct windshield frame has a plate mounted on the inside of frame with three tapped holes to accept the mount that came with your Cruiser. You should be able to correct the frame you have with inserts or cutting it open and putting a plate inside to replicate what Toyota did.

I thought as much, noticed it pretty early and just decided to ignore it for a bit. then while disassembling it, noticed the sheet metal fasteners and lack of an adjustable backing plate.l

Flipped on the color again.
I couldn't come to grips with the gloss of the Regal red. But what really was putting me off, is the dry/ cure time... for weeks it would have a gummy almost tacky feel to it.
By happenstance one store I was hitting up for a few more cans of the Regal, had a heritage red, a satin finish next to the regal....
The steering column bracket hasnt been touched yet, and the new red seems to match the beaten up oe red pretty close.
Also picked up a set of slightly later tail lights...I like them for their slightly larger size as well.

Then this arrived.
I wasn't sure how I wanted to proceed.
Sand blast, then this or this, then sand blast. So I implemented my standard operating procedure....procrastination. and now, walla, problem solved!!! With this now in hand, all my questions are answered...for now.

Whats body color vs what's black under the hood?
Looks like fire wall and underside of the hood are black, but the back side of aprons and bib are body color. What about the fenders, black or body?

You're correct on everything. Hard to tell but just the splash guard/skirt part of fender is black.

I think the body colored frames ended with the 25. On my later than yours '63 which was not fiddled with and period photos the frame is black.
