Trying to get lucky - bank 2 cams removal

Anyone know the minimum I have to take off to get the timing belt off of the passenger side cams? I need to move some of the shims under the cams around on the passenger side but everything is put back together at the moment and not to do pointless work 07 VVT

2007 Specific Timing Belt Change Issue Belt removal and reassembly.

I'm doing the timing belt presently on my 2007 lx470. This is it's second belt change now at 189K (first done by a Toyota Specialty shop). Fortunately the teardown went well but presently I'm a little confused. The 2007 has a slightly different procedure for timing belt removal according to the...

    Timing concern after timing belt!!

Hey everyone! Does anyone else have a crank pulley that doesn’t line up exact even though the other 3 marks are lined up? (Oil pump dot and both cams) I checked and rechecked before pulling the pin. Rotated the motor a ton by hand and the 3 marks still line up but the pulley doesn’t show 0...

Compelling reason to do the timing belt at or before 100k miles

Or at least do a partial disassembly/inspection. Here's the OEM water pump I bought from the dealer last time. 140k miles on it, had been leaking for awhile with no signs elsewhere. The thermostat housing groove is perfect for an o-ring, 2-034, stays put in the groove with a little goop...

Heater hose tee's, dodged a bullet

I noticed by accident some coolant deposits on one of the tee's so I ordered the metal ones when doing the timing belt. One of them totally disintegrated when removing it. I suppose I should do more routine inspections.

Mister Blue's 1HZ timing belt - is there a date code on these?

Hi all, I just collected Mister Blue, a 2003 105, to daily for a week or two before it goes back in. I parked the truck right after inspection and registration for fear of a timing belt failure. This poor old truck has been out in the UAE sun for a long time and all the rubber has gone bad...

Purchasing a 100 series - 2005, 1 owner, 200k mile. Am I ok to drive back with timing belt way past due?

Hey all, I basically found a 100 series, true 1 owner with perfectly documented maintenance records for the past 20 years for 15k. The timing belt was last replaced 6-2010, 89k miles. I plan to take it to my local guy to replace the timing belt and water pump on Monday. Can I trust this thing...

    Timing Belt Replacement

Hi All, we are new here, My 1998 LC Beulah has busted her timing belt and my mechanic isn't interested in replacing it, he says "it's too old"...! He doesn't know Beulah for the last 15 yrs like I do. It's a love affair really and now both of our hearts are broken. She does have 330K mi. on...

    1hz timing belt Tenensioner changes

In the process of doing my timing belt, ordered all the genuine bits and I noticed there is a change in the backing plate behind the timing belt Tenensioner. The original one had 2 holes that lined up to the dowels on the timing cover and the new one only has one hole. The new one fits but the...

    2005 4Runner Timing Belt Replacement

Hello, I had the timing belt done on my 4Runner and the mechanic sent me a message that it has a CEL on and is throwing the P0011 Code. He provided videos of the timing belt and everything appears to be timed up well and that the belt is tight. See below. Here is the left Cam Right Cam...

    Timing belt miles vs age

Hi all I understand the typical service schedule to replace TB is about 100K. And from searching I do see some talk about age as well. But not sure how many years would be recommended to change. I guess storage condition would factor in. My new to me '99 LC 100 has a bit over 100k miles. 113k I...

Why does the 2UZ-FE have the "T" timing mark but not reference them in the FSM

I've owned four vehicles with 2UZ engines and between them have replaced the timing belt several times. This weekend I helped a friend replace the TB/WP on his truck. He was most concerned with the cam crank timing aspect of it as I think most people who have never done it are. I've always...

Timing Belt Change - First Time in 22 Years and 183,000 Miles

2000 Land Cruiser built in December 1999 with 183,000 miles. First time doing the timing belt. Here are a few photos. Replaced with OEM Mitsuboshi belt. Looks like the rubber has dried out a bit however after more than 22 and a half years I suppose that's to be expected. Truck operates in a hot...

1KZ-TE maintenance in the U.S. - Need timing belt changed.

Hello fellow 90 series owners! I took delivery of my KZJ95 a little less than 2 months ago. I have been slowly taking care of baselining. Spending most of my time changing ball joints, suspension, and taking care of surface rust. However, the biggest issue that still needs to be addressed is...
