It is time to rebuild the pump in my ‘92 HDJ80. It is starting to leak and my fuel mileage is even worse than the usual bad. Doing research now and the more I read the more I am getting conflicting opinions. Some advice would be nice.
I am going to be buying all OEM unless I can be convinced...
Serious question time... My 80 is about 350 km off clocking 700 k km's still with original 1hz motor from factory. I know it will need the valve shims done plus the usually 100 k km stuff of replacement t-belt, tensioner, water pump and t-stat to make it viable for the next 100 k km's of life...
Finished a complete drum brake rebuild on the rear my 1975 FJ40. Napa Parts.
Followed the FSM as best as I could for the process but it did not mention the lugs on one side of the shoes.
Drums fit fine, but measuring the circumference it is much larger on the adjuster aspect and not "round" the...
I believe my H 55 is still original. Was wondering what would be going out to make 1st and reverse harder to difficult to engage. Starting thinking about the need to rebuild or replace in the near future.
Hello all,
I have a 1970 FJ40 with original 3.9L V6 and I believe the engine is getting ready to throw a rod as it's banging bad, anyone know if these can still be rebuilt anywhere or if another engine will mount in fairly easy? Much appreciated
My 1977 fj40 (July 1977 build ) needs a carb rebuild. Does anyone know the kit I need? Can’t find the tag and sticker is worn off. Found a 7G6 on top? Thanks in advance
Last we was a tough week. I inadvertently drove my 1980 FJ40 with no oil and seized the motor. It is a long story as to all the little events that lead to me making such a stupid mistake and trust me, I am very frustrated with myself. I will just say NEVER TRUST Jiffylube with anything.
I was...
I'm conflicted. Just finished timing job and intake up refresh on my 89 4runner v6. Got it to the point where it ran as well as an automatic 3.slow will feasibly run. In the short time it's been functioning since I bought it (only the last month since i bought in april/may) it created a loud...
I just rebuilt the front axles a month ago. While changing my oil I noticed some moisture/oil buildup on the bottom of the knuckle/arms (sorry don’t know what everything is called), however there is no grease leaking onto the knuckle itself. That is an old stain on the knuckle so disregard that...
I have a '94 LC with 253k miles. I've done some mods over the years (ARB front bumper, 3.5 OME lift) It's been a great truck that I've owned for 11 years with no major problems, and has been my father's daily driver for the last 5 years or so. I got the dreaded phone call last week that it was...
I'm a "Super Newbie" to the site. So, I apologize for any wrong ways I go about asking questions. I have my first rough FJ40 that I want to tear down and redo over time. I'm extremely excited but to be honest I'm a greenhorn at mechanics. Is there any master tool list someone has put together...
Hey y'all. So, I put off replacing my BEB's for too long, and it bit me in the butt today. I was 20 miles from home and started hearing a strange ticking sound. I limped it to my buddies shop, but it was too late. I pulled the oil pan and found #6 rod bearings had spun, and the crankshaft...
Earlier this year, I picked up a A9334 Harrop Elocker for $200, which had suffered a mechanical failure. It had been used in the rear of a Hilux, and came still fitted in the diff centre. My plan was to rebuild it and fit it to the front of my 80, which uses the same locker.
The problem was an...

Hello gents,
In resurrecting this FJ60 from storage of a friend in a barn for 11 years. Overall its great, but NOT definitely a daily driver yet.
Some background.
It drove great in the morning, it drove great in the afternoon. It did not drive great in the morning and the afternoon!
So I'm...
