What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Anybody know someone that repairs the early dashboard vinyl sections? Mine finally cracked after 33yrs :( I don't really want to get all custom with this if I can avoid doing so.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Mine ended up surviving two trips pulling a trailer loaded with furniture and appliances across 255mi and 2 mtn passes. But boy howdy with 35s does it ever feel tired. Kept an eye on coolant temps and fuel trims the whole time. It must be decently healthy because at all load ranges within the...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

My 80 hates me, I'm withholding parts until it does more work. We shall see how the old pig does towing with its 35s and questionable compression. I know when I get to the mountain passes... I paid for the whole tach I'm gonna use the whole tach.

I work on too many other brands to remember what it puts out on the port. I yanked the airbags and little light bulb out of my wheeling taco years ago, computer can't report bag codes at all if you yank it too.

That's not really how octane works, it's just a measure of it's resistance to auto-ignition. It's not any cleaner or higher performing, it's just as energy dense as lower octane. The power bump comes from being able to run more aggressive timing/boost (both increase cylinder pressure) due to the...

Nah, nothing happens, if you use a decent OBDII reader that can do proprietary code checking you might find that there's an airbag code or two or three depending if you unplug the seatbelt pretensioners too or the fender sensors.

Hmmm, well yeah and no haha. The actual little explosive charge and everything will work no doubt... but the sensors (especially the inertia one) yeah those are hit or miss on old stuff. I remember thinking the airbag in my Mom's 89 Mercedes 560SL was a joke because it only has one inertia...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

It's a pretty passive device it uses the scavenging effect of exhaust pulses to draw fresh air into the exhaust during warm-up to combine with the excess of fuel to warm the cats up to operating temp faster. When the truck is out of the warm-up enrichment state it turns off a VSV stopping the...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Heck yeah! Gonna leave the PAIR out? I took mine off and just put in the 95-97 water pipe and never looked back. You can plug the PAIR air nipple on the filter canister with one of these for rather cheap...

    Heater Core Flushing - OWNED!

I just recently did mine again with a tub of hot water and CLR and a little 12v pump to circulate it. Got a ton of stuff out but unfortuntely I think my headgasket is putting combustion gasses in the heater lines and making the main cabin core fill up with gas and causing ciorculation to mostly...

PSA: Don't Buy This Truck at Dynamic Motors in Largo, FL!

If a dealer doesn't even have an email domain of their own... that's already a red flag in my book. They can't manage one or they've been blacklisted... This is a buy here pay here lot masquerading as a "Premium Used Car Dealer". No I'm not going to email your pedestrian Gmail address with...
