The truck is pretty much 100% mechanically fit. 1978 inline six, 4speed with rear powertrax locker. Its still a project to me BUT one you can drive and enjoy or make a great trail/street truck out of. You could restore it to spec if one desired.

the day has come that i have to put my project fj40 for sale, i have been layed off and money is tight,
1978 fj40, 4 speed trans. the orginal 2f motor blew up and i bought a good running 1f off a friend that yanked it for a 350 sbc swap. the motor is on the cherry picker ready to install. included in the sale is:
-new clutch kit with pilot bearing and throw out bearing
- new water pump
- new thermostat and gasket
-new oil pan gasket
- power steering pump, bracket and mini truck steeing box for power steering from jt outfitters
- radaitor has been recored, pressure tested and cleaned
- flywheel has been turned
- bolts and nuts are labeled and in boxes
Body- the body is in decent with no major rust, fenders are junk...

putting this out as a feeler. dont know a whole lot about it. 1973 landcruiser stock motor/tranny straight six unsure of mileage runs very strong starts right up. was told rear leafs have been moved to front. 34" bias ply ss. hard top with just soft doors. all gauges work interior just needs dsprayed out very solid frame no rust. body has been tubbed in the rear for more flex. the hard top is not the one with the ambulance doors. but is in working order. color is desert tan. has a cd player in it that works will post pics later. any ideas what i should ask for it? full roll cage tied into frame. body is in good shape no real rust on it. i guess it could be driven daily the guy i got it from did its just a little...

The Picture is of the good side! I have my 68 FJ40 for sale its a big project with all the normal rust. It was converted to a chevy 350 back in the 80's I have a good running 350 to go with it. It is not installed at this time. It has great doors with little to no rust on them. The tub has all the normal rust it will need a rear sill and drivers rocker and floor. The frame is solid. I am putting my 79 FJ40 up for sale. Dont really want to sell it, but i am enlisting in the Military.
i have owned it for 5 years now. when i purchased the cruiser it was original paint rustic green but very faded. Past owner installed the Chevy 350 because the 2F locked up. It had a 2.5" SUA lift on 36" tires. And now to how it sits currently.

I am selling my Cruiser because it doesn't fit my needs anymore. OK, I want a new toy. We just moved from the seattle are to Mesa AZ. The rig has been very good to me for the last sixteen years The only time it has let me down is when I put something together wrong or when I was careless on the trail. It is a very comfortable ride and it does not fight you going down the road.. It will cruise 65 mph all day long, and the Flowmaster just sings to you. The tires still have a lot of life on them. I don't drive it much, so the tires only have about four thousand miles of wear and tear. The wheelin I did was was very mild. It basicaly brought me up to some great vistas and hauled my beer. I am sure I will have seller's remorse when it sells...
