Starting issues..

Well it looks like I might have an electrical gremlin.
I came out to the 80 today it wouldn’t start for me. It cranks over fine, just won’t fire over. Over the last several weeks, it would kind of “hiccup” occasionally when starting. Then I would turn the key again and it would fire up fine. I thought it might be a faulty connection on the distributor electrical connector pig tail(Inside) replaced it last year). All the connection points and pins look perfect. And the newest symptom is the my ScanGuage 3 won’t recognize or connect to the computer. I also my have a blown Check Engine bulb because it doesn’t come on is the key is on with the engine off like it used to. But I can’t scan for codes because the ScanGuage 3 won’t connect.
Any ideas from those smarter than me? Haha.

Are you sure your cel light is blown and that it's not the ecu loosing power (or ground)?

Sounds like a typical problem with failed fusible links. They are less than $20 to replace.

I’m not positive it’s blown, but it usually comes on when the ignition is on but the engine off. I’ll check it in the meantime.

The CEL should ALWAYS illuminate with the key in the ON position before cranking the starter.
That indicates that the ECU is in a "ready" state.
No CEL = no start. Don't bother cranking the starter.

The set of 3 fusible links is low hanging fruit and should be replaced with each battery change IMO.
The 15amp EFI fuse in the relay box on the left fender would be next, followed by the EFI MAIN Relay.
