Fresh Pig : FOR SALE

Well, finally got my sons pig finished. Went with the stock colors (278). Plenty of rust repair, but the end result was worth it ! Its Hippo lined color matched blue on the top, rockers, 1/4's and around fenders. Its going to get a mask of color matched white hippo on the front of the hood soon. New weatherstrip all around, new mirrors, headliner, and misc.parts i've bought from guys on Mud.

Special thanks to pvcruisers for the remanued tailgate weatherstrip. heathrj for the sticky on door and misc.weatherstrip, Ron @ RMC for the primo grill, and rhino for the glovebox door handle. Lots of others to thank also, but look at the pics and get inspired. Hoping this one will last another 28 years ! Long live the IRON PIG !:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

drop dead gorgeous...

did you end up fixing the fenders or did you get the fiberglass $OR ones?

Is that FJ60 power steering?

Hippolined interior, blue? any pics of that? headliner?

You should be awful proud!

THanks for the replies. Fenders are $or fiberglass. Fj60 p/s. Interior is going colormatched liner same as the white exterior. Won't have time until 11/7, then bucket seats tuffy and rear disc axle after liner is done. All fasteners that were removed were replaced w/stainless. Headliner is $or, but only cost $126.00 + labor. Well worth it i think. Its amazing how things shine up with a little elbow grease. Mike

awsome; inspiring, gives me something to shoot for; please keep up the pix..........so, are you happy with the fiberglass fenders?

wow!!!!! but no pic of the sweet glovebox handle????:flipoff2:

everytime i see someone do up a piggy in right proper fashion it makes me want to get mine cleaned up.

Very, very nice!!! I have a '76 that I plan on building up over the years with my son (currently 8) so it can be his HS vehicle. Your rig is a great benchmark for me to try and hit.

Did you install the headliner yourself or have a professional do it? If professional, what was the cost and hours in labor for them to do it? If self installed, do you have any advice? Got any pictures of the interior?

What lift did you go with? Alcan? Man-A-Sag? Ironman? Belton? SOR?

Looks great. Very jealous.

The fenders are just ok. I bought them last fall, and since then they have improved them by reinforcing the vertical area where they meet the doors. The main complaint is that the roll/radius on top of the fender does'nt match the doors too well, so you have to fudge the two tone line a bit to make the lines correct. Other than that, zero rust forever is a good thing.

LXCRSR, the lift is man-a-sag. If i knew then what i know now it would have alcans, but cost was a driving factor at the time. The ride is very nice, just hope it holds up a while. If not, i'll have to use them for a spring over on another pig.(yes, i'm shopping for another pig, now i'm jealous that my sons rig is nicer than mine, and compared to my 40 it rides sooo much better)
As far as the headliner goes, i helped a pro upolstery guy do it. Not too bad to do, and i would do it myself again if needed, it took about 6 hours because of glass removal/install.

Thanks, Mike.

Broken-in Man-A-Fre lift springs make nice replacement for stock height springs.

I used to get flashed all the time (and not in a good way) by on comming drivers who thought I was driving with my brights on. This was after they had already been rebuilt with an aal. :frown: Go Alcan!

PS- That's a damn fine looking Pig you have there.

zornff, thanks for the information on the headliner. Will you be posting any picks?

The more I hear, the firmer my decision is to hold out until I can afford Alcan springs.

Again, great looking pig.

Man I want a FJ55.
Here piggie piggie...
Excellent job!! Second on the additional pics esp when interior is done.
