I need to order a new rebuild front diff from just differentials but I’m told the gearing could be either 390 or 410 . Does anybody have a resource for me so I can find out which gears I have? Dealer says he has no way to tell and I can’t get it on a lift until Tuesday. Any advice?

I thought the factory gears were supposed to be 4.30 for the 1998-2002 4 speed (US) models, and 4.10 for the 2003-2007 5 speed (US) models.

Yep, 4.30’s

Thank you jLB what is the source you posted?

Multiple sources, I'm sure it's either in the Owner's Manual or Factory Service Manual, but here are some easier ones for you to verify:

Does this mean the 98-02's 4.3 ratio is more capable offroad than 03-07's 4.1 gear when 1st gear has to be used for more extreme terrain?

Only if you neglect to take into account the (98-02) 4spd 1st gear ratio is 2.80, while the (03-07) 5spd 1st gear ratio is 3.52.

Ahh I see, so the 4.3/4.1 number is actually the "second highest gear" value. It's the colored columns in the table that matters.
