Hello you guys,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,1) What color were stock off factory line windshield wiper motors in 1962 FJ40. Just double checking as my originals look grey. Not sure if they were body color originally or came grey. Thanks. Also,,,,,,,,,,2) My inside front fenders and firewall are black and look like original paint. Could someone confirm that black was period correct from factory on the 1962 FJ40. Thanks. FJFJFJ

It is accepted that black is correct.

The wiper motor covers that I have seen on a few older stock 40s ('63 and older) were painted body color. Hopefully someone can confirm this.

Firewall and inside fender were black from the factory. Not 100% sure on the wiper motors. Body color may very well be correct. Looks like it was in 61.

Red interior on the '62 is unpainted, and the wiper covers are still red, and match original body color.

Light green '62 find, wiper covers light green and match body color.

I would comfortably go body color on a '62.

FJFJFJ, why not start one thread, and post these all in the same thread? Could help someone else in the future.

Do we ever know what happened to this one? I remember a woman owned for a year a two then sold it to someone who seemed to sell his cruisers pretty quickly.

I think the guy went by Giraffe or something like that, he sold the front bib, bezel, ect. a while back on ebay if I remeber correctly

This is the guy I was thinking about https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-owners-group/515242-1962-fst-fj40.html He has bought a sold vehicles and doesn't appear to hang on to any of them. A few years back he bought a FJ55 that had the Fairey overdrive shifter boot init. No overdrive just the boot. He sold it or parted it before I could get it. I remember he got another FJ55 shortly after which was sold rather quickly. It would be a shame if that old 62 ended up pretty much being parted out. I remember Giraffe parted one didn't realized it was this one. If I had know what was going to happen to the poor old girl I would have bought it myself. I've have held on to a 73 FST for over eighteen years without even starting it and still wouldn't part it out. That 62 was a much rarer FJ40.:frown:

Doesn't look to be the same one. Giraffe was selling parts before the other thread. Here are a couple of them. https://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-t...-original-stamped-bezel-military-trailer.html https://forum.ih8mud.com/sale-parts/445002-early-fj40-doors-no-rust.html https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-classifieds-corner/417701-ultimate-unobtanium-sale-real-time.html The doors are also from a hard top. So what happen to the soft top?

lol. thanks mike, never caught this part of the thread. yes, the green cruiser is annie. thankfully, timmbuck never even went to look at her because anyone in their right mind would have snapped it up in a heartbeat, so i've got a cruiser of a lifetime
