howdy, i need some help. i brought back a '79 hj-45 from honduras. apparently they don't mark VINs on their trucks down there, (or did back then). i need to get my truck registered in texas, but have heard it's easier to get a "historical document" to get a new VIN and title instead of translating a title and jumping through numerous hoops. can anyone tell me how to get an american VIN for my diesel truck?

No 17 digit VIN. But you will have a serial number.
