I used this too - it had to be cut - but its a fairly simple process. My only recommendation is, because it's braided and will want to fray, put some tape around the area you want to cut, then cut through the tape. I used a dremmel/cut-off wheel. I think a grinding wheel also sort of "melts"...

I understand you're worried that it's a South American truck, and that it might be a basket case - but at the same time you drove this thing 3/4 of the way across the country without issue, and are planning to remove/convert almost everything in it mechanically through the resto-mod process...

I used an FJ60 H42 top cover on the stock FJ40 H42 transmission to move the shifter backward, as mentioned above. Lined everything up just about perfectly.
Your steering arms look stock to me. Assuming those are the stock u bolt plates with shocks mounted to them, just upside down, it might be that simple as long as nobody did a cut/turn on the axle for caster correction.
I can’t quite tell from the pictures but it looks like you may have a drop...
