Hey all, I thought I would celebrate reaching 2,000 posts by start a new thread in the 80 Series forum regarding my truck and what I've been up to with it for the last few years.

My father was always a Land Cruiser enthusiast, starting with a brand new 40 way back in the day just before I was born. It's little wonder that I picked up on the hobby.

I started with buying it (sight unseen) via the Japanese auto auctions - LINK. Luckily, I had a contact that had someone there who could actually physically see the truck and ensure it was in decent shape, not smoked in, etc.

The one I did end up buying was a 92 Build Month 08 VX Limited, which included ABS, 3rd break light, bigger brakes and 16 inch rims, had the Winter Package, factory winch, factory lockers, center console cooler, sliding rear windows, STOCK steering wheel, 5 inch lift, 3 inch stainless exhaust, and a minor 172,000 kms on the 1HD-T engine.

And finally, onto some adventure trips! I usually post these in the local club forum, but I figured you guys might enjoy just a few of them too.

And of course, some wheeling. Somehow I doubt the original owner in Tokyo ever thought his truck would be doing stuff like this.

You Canadians and your access to diesel landcruisers love to rub it in don't you. :) Nice looking rig.

That's a LOT of work done, and a really sweet truck!

Looks awesome! Was your trailer harness plug and play or did you modify a universal one?

Thanks very much everyone for the compliments! :)

Yep:flipoff2: To be honest, if I were to do it again, I would buy a nice clean LHD US spec rig and then do a diesel swap. Perhaps the electronic diesel, maybe it doesn't smoke as much.

I had to modify a universal one. I was GOING to get the plug n play model, but NO WHERE IN TOWN carried one , and I needed to haul a trailer up island for the BCJC/Island 4x4 Charity Mountain Cleanup Event the next day, so I ended up spending a good portion of the night standing in the rain working on my wiring.

Nice rig, excellent progress on your mods.

Is there a decimal point somewhere 30001KG....

Thank you! Heh, it actually reads 3000, what looks like a '1' is actually "kg" written vertically.

This JDM HDJ81 is my favorite. My inspiration, for me to build mines just as good

Anytime you're up this way, give me a shout. Always love an excuse to go out!

Gorgeous truck.

I wish there were diesels available here in the States for a reasonable amount of money.
