What dizzy you using? Rebuild original? Or one of those from one of the t-shirt guys? (<——— if this, can you ask if there’s any available in the near future? I’m chasing options - I have a dual points Mallory if you’re interested in a performance boost, lol)

Leading contender for GOAT build...

Hey Paul. I inspected, cleaned, and replated the original. Also while at Trollholes shop to pick up my engine I had him test the dizzy on his Sun distributor machine to verify the mechanical and vacuum advance were in spec.

If you haven’t seen one before they pretty cool.

This is the part of the build I really enjoy... reassembling nice clean parts is instant gratification at its best :D

Had the the original hand primed fuel pump plated but the internals were tired so I sourced a new late model 40 OEM pump from Racer65 to scavenge the intervals from.

New innards, though the old weren’t torn they were pretty dry and not nearly as soft and plyable as the new.

JP - I've seen one, we have an old one in one of our ranch buildings. Have no idea if it works, but I think it would be appropriate for testing a vintage dizzy, you think? This is a poor-man's scan of an 8x10 print on old Kodak Azo 8x10 contact print paper. Camera was an 8x10 large format camera (either my Conley or Wista, can't remember) using a 100-yr old Universal Aplanat lens, playing around with in/out-of-focus yadda yadda yadda stuff. Another <expensive> hobby of mine.

This thread answered another question (where did you get new seals, etc. for these component rebuilds). Use new replacements as parts parts. Brilliant!

These knuckles are almost too purdy to put back on might just keep them to hang as ornaments of my Christmas tree, the wife would love that :grinpimp:

Paul you're talking over my head with all that camera jargon, but as uneducated on the subject as I may be I do know that is a great photo!

To all MUD members... the previous pictures are rated “W” for:

WHOA... that’s frighten awesome.

So JP... when does Clemson Land Cruiser Restorations open for business?

Ha! Thanks for the kind words. I'm thinking I'll keep this on the hobby side of life for now but you never know :D

I am speachles.... what amazing work. You are an artist.

Thank you for taking time in your obviously busy schedule to take such good pictures, and sharing the blasts from the past!

Thanks xtremeVA and sloanstavern! Glad you guys are enjoying the build, I too have watched a lot of great builds over the years while drooling at the unfolding build from behind my key board. Now I'm lucky to finally have the time to do such a build and I am enjoying ever minute of it!

Superb.

Where did you source your internals for the F135?

The shop that did my machine work sourced all the internals for me so I'm not much help there.

Are those 16" FJCruiser steelies with hubcaps in the background? Sorry to sidetrack.. I love the attention to detail!

Good eye. They are indeed well actually early 2000 tundra take offs. I weld tabs on off a 40 rim to hold the hubcaps on. I really wanted to run 255/85/16s and stock acorn hubcaps to keep an original vibe going.
