JP, this is the best 45 lpb resto I have ever seen, and the most correct and accurate. This truck should be used for others to reference from. Very nice!

Thanks Brian! That means a lot coming from you. I’ve certianly tried hard to make this old girl like she was when she rolled off the assembly line in 1965.... I’ve always wanted to do a bone stock resto. like this and luckily I finally have the time. I’m certianly enjoying every minute of it

There has to be a movie reference, of some kind. “Inconceivable” comes to mind. Ask the kids, they’ll know.

3-1/2 tech questions: why that fuel line (from tank to filter) and what is it? Did you source your exhaust (from header to tailpipe) and if so, where/how?

:clap::clap::clap:

Paul is that The Princess Bride reference? If so you are the man!

The fuel line when I ordered from West Marine was supposed to be semi translucent brown but when it showed up it was as you see semi translucent yellow. I searched all over the interwebs to find a closer match to the OEM line but had no luck. So I went with the yellow line.

The down pipe and muffler are OEM however the rest of the exhaust components are sadly discountinued. Though the down pipe is for the 40 chassis length and will come up short of connecting with the muffler on 45 series. I’ll get you the parts numbers when I get home.

Some progress this morning, front bib action.

Maybe I’m a little too picky but the front bib running lights while still available from Mr. T come these days clear zinc coated so I had to disassemble and did in my yellow chromate bath to keep the continuity going :D

It’s truly a shame so much of these plate parts get covered up, they are beautiful.

I’m interested to see what the height of the truck is “stock”

As am I. Right now with only the cab on the frame the front shackles look about perfect but the rears are pretty vertical. But with a one ton rating on the LPB I think it had a decent rake from the factory. I’ll make sure to post up some hub to fender measurements once I wrap up the build.

The white lenses are still available? I thought they were just aftermarket. I’m
Waiting on @cruiseroutfit to restock.

Sorry Nolen I miss spoke I was specifically just talking about the housing. You are correct OEMs only come in orange. Good to know Kurt is an option for the clear lenses as I have been buying from SOR and they think highly of them for sure.

Little afternoon progress.... you have to wonder what Toyota was thinking putting white pyramid vinyl on the running boards of an off-road truck??

Can you confirm if you used a valve regrind kit 04112-60062 when you rebuilt the motor. Just trying to confirm it is the correct head gasket and manifold gasket for the early f engine.

I hope I don’t have the Feds knocking on my door after this :D

I wanted to roll the odometer back to zero since this is a restoration so I took an old speedo cable and hooked it up to my drill and hit reverse at wide open throttle. Two minutes later and a mere two miles rolled off the odometer I did some rough mental math that told me a meer 500 hours would be need to zero out the odometer
In the pursuit of a better time management approach I decided to open up the innards of the odometer...

And 30 minutes later I had this... like being transported back to 1965 rolling off Mr. T’s assembly line.
