Bare w/ the lengthy post!!!
So lucky me was positive for covid Sept 11. Kid was probably the vector from the weekend before while w/ his dad and GF at her families house w/ a few young kids who go to school. My kid does not go to school, never has and is just over 8. My ex is a teacher too and he’s been adamantly opposed to masks from day one. I get it, no one wants to wear them but they do help lower spread. I can take some blame because since the mandates were lifted in stores I ditched masks too. I did tho get one vax tho I really didn’t want to, I had no choice if I wanted to keep my job, on 8/21 (I wasn’t going to try to do the religious exemption, didn’t feel right). So my son popped up w/ a fever Tues afternoon 9/7, high 90’s (his norm is 97.2) and extreme fatigue, literally falling asleep while playing his video game! Then his dad told me he was feeling off that night at his own house (kid always w/ me Mon typically till Thurs afternoon) and chose to stay home from school Wed. Son was fever free mid Wed. His dad tho was having high fevers but maybe he didn’t tell me till Fri, not sure. Kid went to him as scheduled Thurs afternoon tho because I was scheduled to work the next day Fri 7-3. That was my big mistake, I simply figured he had a cold and simply flaked that his dad was ill also. Friday at work I was definitely not feeling myself but thought it was something to do w/ my bladder, wicked urgency and pressure. Forgot one ear was crazy itchy Thurs night and I sneezed a few times which I literally never do. But 10/11am at work I was feeling light heading and foggy and needed to sneeze a few more times.
Called doc to get an appt to have urine checked, left work early and even found myself driving poorly. Urine checked out fine and I flaked and waved off other issues. Sat morning woke feeling more weird, called out sick for 3-11 and went to work to rapid test myself cuz I was supposed to go be around a large group of my bee club members in Springfield Mass and didn’t want to jeopardize them. I had to test myself cuz the RN was too busy so I literally watched the test pop up positive.
Thankfully I believe due to the vax I’ve had a relatively easy bought w/ it. There were a few nights there tho maybe Sat through Tues or so that I kinda don’t remember. Climbing into bed at night I felt pretty exhausted. Barely moving, no real fever but the fatigue was intense. I had a wicked runny nose, like typical head cold symptoms. One ear was so blocked I literally couldn’t hear anything. Ex’s gf tested negative Sat evening, ex tested positive Sun noon. Ex was isolating himself from kid and his gf at his house.
Kid came back to me Mon AM, met the gf and she just didn’t get out of her car.
Ex continued to have high fevers till he was told to go get the monoclonal antibody infusion which he got on Wed. He’s now been fever free but has a HORRIBLE cough. His gf tested positive Fri. Kid is staying w/ me till they get their strength up. My bf is here w/ me, has been continuously but so far has not shown symptoms. We finally decided yesterday to schedule him a test which will be tomorrow. I’ve been loading us up, kid included on vitamin C and D.
Apparently I’ll test positive for 90 days. My 10 day quarantine is over Tues.
What a strange thing it’s been, ordering groceries online and having them delivered or arranged for curbside pickup. My sense of taste and smell disappeared Mon, a few days after my initial test. Realized it as I was going to get kid Mon AM. I was eating a waffle pb&j sandwich while driving and couldn’t taste any of it, just texture! I remember taking it away from my mouth thinking ‘why can’t I taste the pb and jelly?’
Oh well, if my bf pops up positive I’m hoping he’s just been positive and is lucky enough to have escaped symptoms. Most of my work people don’t know he’s basically living here, I’ve stayed quiet so if I do get mandated on a shift I can keep up my end that I can only stay an extra 4 hours as I have elderly dogs in crates at home. We have been crazy short staffed for ages so often if someone calls out sick we get mandated to stay. Twice I’ve had to stay till 4am.
But while I was sick I managed to build a new gate, me and my son made giant bubble wand solution (recipe called for glycerin so I sacrificed some lube! Haha!), and I taught my son how to hand stitch so he made a dinosaur stuffed animal. Oh and a photo of my positive test w/ the timer near countdown. They were thrilled I knew enough to test myself… since all of us had to be vaxxed (those who didn’t quit) by 8/23 they’d stopped testing everyone. Kinda dumb honestly. Once I got my infected body out of the building they had to immediately test EVERYONE and put all the halls I was on Friday on full precautions till all tests came back negative for I think 3 days. I’ll bet everyone was pissed at me! Ugh. Oh well as far as I know no one came up positive. Good for them but s***ty for me cuz all the days I was scheduled are on my own dime since that was proof i did t get sick in-house. Bye bye all my measly sick and personal days. I only own two of each. As much as I want to blame my ex I can’t because I have been just as much at fault for ditching masks too.
Blah blah blah.
We have all decided tho because my son is so enthralled w/ his off road wheeling video game, I’m gonna schedule us for the Yankee Toys Fall Gathering Columbus Day weekend. My kid needs an eye opener to REAL off roading.
