Looks like your first project is making a spring for your leg vise. Good exercise in heat treating.
Its not every day you see an actual froe club.

Froe club? ... Ah! Yes, I watched a YouTube video about teaching young kids to chop wood and the guy recommended making those. I have another one as well for me.

Nope. I gave them away. I have a nice thick rod of steel I could use for part of the mounting bracket. Plenty of other metal... head bolts etc left over too.I'm sure you saved the old leaf springs from your cruiser? Perfect steel to make the new spring for your vise.
old tool hoards are coolFree tools! Lots of funky old ones but this is the real gem!
And then saw this sexy lifted on 31x10.5x15 tires 2wd Taco today and had a love affair w/ it for awhile....

Sure, if you’ve spent 100 hours honing and flattening and polishing each one...old tool hoards are coolespecially free ones. but i've gotta say, my ole boy would lose his $h!t to see those planes sitting like that.... i can hear his voice... "how many f$#king times do i have to tell you, lay them on their side!" yup, just a part of my upbringing

No! Oil will ruin your woodwork. Carnuba wax only if you must protect them from rust. You can buy BreeWax at ace. You can coat your table saw etc with it and prevent rust without oil that will leach into the wood. Breewax is a finishing polish. My friend said to oil them too? Anything special? Very cool. Skimmed quick once done w/ dinner here at work. I’ll take a better look at the planers and mine this week. The Breewax appears to be called Briwax and might be avail at Ace... not exactly coming up as a link for my local store but I’m not worried.let's see if this works https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/discover/articles/restoringanoldhandplane . i hope this helps you felicity
Yes! I couldn’t remember how it was spelled. Briwax is correct. They should have something similar if they don’t have that exact product. I just have plenty of experience with it.Very cool. Thank you guys!
Have you not seen my bee supers? I made most of them. Here’s one of the extras... hung them in the house as cubbies for winter storage. Rough cut pine w/ the rough side inward so the bees can propolis them. I did have help cutting the rabbets but I have a small table saw now and once my bee people move I’ll be doing them all myself.A planer? Are you a finnish carpenter now? Dare ya!
