Trimmed the Steiger in-line temp sensor adapter. Will file edges as well.
My bad.
But wait, you had already cut and flared it before you measured? I can’t be doing that, I can barely remember to put the fitting on before I flare it the first time...

I used string to measure the old line I’d removed, replicating the bends, yada yada. Then cut the length of string I ended up with from new line, did my flares and yes, remembered to add the fittings. Then bent along the old lines bends. Once under truck realized it was a smidge too long. Front lines I skipped the string and just followed the old line bends w/ the new straight line... worked a lot better. Near exact fit.

Ok driver bellcrank, shoes, holy mother of god hellacious springs (primarily the bottom one) attached. I was truely saying to myself @cps432, *(Edited for sensitive eyes) “what a complete c***y job!!!”

I have found that it is worth renting the drum brake tool kit. It really makes installing those springs less c**ty and safer for your fingers and eyes. Those things are loaded with a lot of tension and could really screw you up if they hit you just right.

Ah... I forgot all about that.
I had not problem with the springs for the retaining pins nor the larger top one with needle nose vice grips but yeah just that bottom one cuz I don't have the upper body strength, no issues of it flying anywhere, just couldn't spread it easily. Maybe I can grab one at the Advance Auto near my work after my shift to do the passenger side. I a very long time ago... borrowed a SST for the springs but it really only helped with the large spring removal. Weird little doohicky, @FJ60Seth (edited Seths... I had tagged the wrong one when I had posted this previous) I kinda figured it out... That SST will be on its way back. Huge apology for holding it so long.Took this quick video cuz I recall you said ‘when you figure it out, lmk.’

Anyone who cares to see... donning disposable PPE at work. Only one hall (was fully negative till yesterday) is using disposable gowns. Kinda an odd thing. The others are all using washable. Be sure to put the volume on... that crinkling is crazy loud and nearly impossible to hear over if someone is talking up you.

Probably. It’s a legitimate nightmare to deal with.
Felicity, Can I ask about the rear axle bearings? I think that you bought new bearings, and I understand those need to be pressed onto the axles? Did you do it that way or use another method?

Knocked them in the old fashioned way... old bearing and a BFH. Actually I used the 54mm hub socket from Georg. Bearing wasn’t quite enough to hang onto w/o wacking my own hand a few times. Here it is in on the driver side w/ the seal just a smidge out. I made sure to tap the seal in a bit more evenly.

My kid got a generous care package in the mail from @landcrusher909, thanks Rob! And in typical 7 year old fashion he would rather wear it backwards to see the truck from the front. Quite the duo we make now.

Took this quick video cuz I recall you said ‘when you figure it out, lmk.’
I’ve found that assembling all the parts on the hub, putting a ratchet strap around the brake pads and tightening everything up makes pulling the springs into place very easy.
only figured that out the second time doing drums where I almost quit and flat bedded it to a dealership.

@EscapeWagon62 thamks, I’ll try that if it comes down to it. Hoping tmrw. Kid comes back to me Mondays and I always try to schedule my covid tests at a local pharmacy Monday’s too so hate to take more time from him for myself any further. Second one will probably go easier I imagine.

Back on her rear tires. Loath how slow I am. Two hours for the passenger side bellcrank, shoes, drum and tires. Oh well. One tiny step further. Thank god for the flat bite hemostats I snagged from work... those bellcrank boots are worse than an unlubed condom.
Took the kid and mutts for a walk around 11, just a smidge of the deep autumn colors left out there. Kid got his math and writing work done early. So when we got home from a wander I took my time while he went on his iPad to lose his mind for a bit.
