i dont know 74's or F engines really, but the basic setup is:
-buy new trollhole carb or send existing carb off to JimC to have it desmoged/recurved for smog use
-buy a new trollhole dizzy that is designed to work with a desmogged carb/system
-remove vast majority of smog gear under the hood. like i said, i dont know what is there on an F.

i will say if you dont need it legal-wise, absoltuley do it. less parts to break and go wrong and you get a new dizzy and like new carb out of it. it will run so much better.

and have georg throw in a GR starter while its there. and mini truck PS too if you can swing it. he sells all the parts.

Have carb rebuilt and go with a 2f dizzy and new side cover,if needed for wide cap dizzy . Agree with all the rest krusinkid mentioned otherwise.the carbs he mentions have quality control issues and my dizzy from same vendor failed instantly. I'm now ; after lots of money strictly purchasing Oem .No more china crap is going on my cruiser !!! It was a lesson that cost me a lot of headache's and money .

I too finished off the last of the half way done desmog and went the new trollhole carb and distributor route. I am very happy with the result and power.
Seems you have about a 50/50 chance of it going ok . I'd rather gamble in Vegas than on my carb and dizzy !! OEM all the way.

You have your cruiser at a gurus shop and your asking us ? Georg will tell you how too do it right the first time . My cruiser had a little face lift at the shop not long ago . He will set you straight and never leads you astray . If I would have known Georg sooner I could have saved myself a couple thousand dollars easily .I almost forgot Dominic knows his sh..t too .

Yeah great experience with Georg - super nice guy, gave great advice, and I thought he was more than fair with the pricing. He did more than I expected too. Wish he lived closer but with the free tow out there and the $7 bus ride it wasn't bad at all.

Cruiser performed flawlessly coming home. Hit 64 mph @3k rpm. Temp gauge never got past the midpoint even with a good little pass to drive over. Even passed some big rigs going up it!

So I have a list of things to do now but it was great having a pro fix some key things. Going to be weird not having a leaking car!

I would definitely recommend him for Cruiser work - I'm going to refer one of my daughter's friend's dad to send his cruiser out there.

It is weird actually having suspension! The ride is definitely squishier. One thing that is a little unnerving is at higher speeds the pulling to a side when you hit a groove or bump. Can't put your mind on cruise control when driving that's for sure.

Getting stock wheels painted this weekend and then will install some tall skinnies (33x10.5). Looking forward to a little overdrive and slightly easier steering.

So in talking with Georg, he said it wasn't a requirement to get a new carb to desmog this thing. It's amazing all the stuff he said that could be taken off. All those things seem like little time bombs ticking ready to wreak havoc. I may tackle this sooner rather than later. And I'll be buying some new hoses too and replace a lot of what's under the hood. That was on the early list but I really need to get that done for peace of mind.

So I got my freshly painted wheels back and they turned out very nice!

Then went to America's Tire to buy my 33x10.5x15 BF Goodrich AT's. They looked it up on their system and said that they could not sell me the tires as they didn't meet mfg specs - the wheels are too narrow.

So where did you all go to get the tall skinnies installed on your stock wheels?

Okay got it sorted out... Local small shop will take care of me. Probably get better service too and it only will cost about $15 more than the big chains (nice supporting the small business owner). And they have "state-of-the-art Hunter RoadForce balancer and touchless tire mounting machine", the latter which will be good for the painted wheels.
