Figured I would post up something I wasn’t planning to work on but @Will Van sent me a PM and it seemed like something that could be useful and a little challenging.

For those that need to figure out the AC lines of converting the Dodge o-ring style #8 and #10 threaded ends to Toyota’s Denso ends, a solution is being worked on now. These two photos show what the ends result of the fittings will ultimately be.

TOTALLY off topic, but....

There was a past thread about converting the late-model FZJ-80 A/C dryer (hanging low under bumper) to earlier FJ-80 dryer under hood, in front of the battery box.
It would take an adapter to mate R12 input/output lines to the R134 fittings & an A/C line (pre-bent) to mate everything up.

The past post had, I believe, a hundred interested & committed buyers, but the kit never came to fruition. Just an idea....😉

Do you know if the pad fittings on the A/C condenser are the same for input vs. output? If they are the same, the #8 O-ring adapter fitting Joey is making should work. The A/C drier is a different story.

However, can’t you just source the high-mount drier lines used from an early 80?

They are not compatible. Early=R12, late=R134. They are different by design, so you can’t put in wrong, or mix, refrigerant.

What is not compatible? The “Early” style A/C drier is not compatible with R134?

The refrigerant line couplings.
I can’t take the lines & just interchange them, per CDan.

Which refrigerant line couplings was CDan referring to? All of them? Or just the ones on the A/C compressor? Did he say why?

The reason I ask is, R134 and R12 charge port couplings are different (the couplings on the A/C compressor).

But I’m not sure all of the fittings are exclusively different between R12 and R134. They’re just pad mounts with an O-ring seal. I’m not saying they’re not different, I would just get clarification on which fittings exactly are not compatible between R12 and R134.

Pretty much cut & paste from the original ac relocation thread. I wasn’t gonna retype all that.

Yeah dude it’s sucks, I recently moved to so cal from WA and I can’t believe how restrictive everything is. I was going to try to be legit and register my cars here but since I have my cars registered to my family’s address in WA and the landcruiser is too old for emissions there, I’m thinking about just renewing for as long as I can get away with it :( I’ve heard getting smog done on obd1 is a nightmare here.

The weird thing is diesels older than 1996 (?) are smog exempt in CA.
I just smoged my 94 obd1 too weeks a go it was a non-issue passed on the first try

It would be nice to do a 24v Common rail and 6 speed swap too! I like more gears!
Plus it does not sound like a concrete truck.

That's the part I love. Although it would be nice to not have to shut it down placing your order at drive thru joints.

Does not fit as nice as a 12V VE pump and the NV5600 does not fit .................................
