Hmmm...1 of 2 things

1- When you plug the relay back in all the other windows still wont work - based on the wiring diagram
2 - The window circuit wiring is different on your '94

Plug the relay back in and let me know what happens -

Anyone else experiencing the same?

I plugged the relay back in and all the windows work fine. There must be something different in the wiring of a 94.

Thanks for the feedback
I'll try to source a 94 EWD and see whats up

Just wondering...but I assume those of you who are doing this mod aren't worried that a coat hanger can now roll down your window(s) and allow someone to get whatever they see, without setting the alarm off?

I don't see what a coat hanger would want with my 80:rolleyes:

If the coat hanger works, then there is no need to pay for broken window. Another bonus of this mod.

Okay, now maybe a hidden button to roll down a window from outside the vehicle in case keys get locked inside... Might me nice to be able to secure your keys inside the vehicle when out hiking and not risk losing them on the trek.

I like the idea, but that thing is ugly. :hhmm:

I tried this mod but have a Gentex auto dimming mirror and radar detector hooked up to the sunroof power feed, this was a bit too much draw for my liking. I ended up using a window lock switch from a 2000 celica to energize the window circuit without the key in the ignition. I thought there might be backfeed issues jumping power from one leg to the other but so far no ill effects. I did have to trim the relay housing a little to make room for the wires, but that was it.

Where did you find the mirror that uses the stock mount? I've only found ones that mount to the windshield.

Phantom load of <1watt has been located.
If you rarely drive your 80 this could of discharged your battery over a 3 week time period. By removing the lamp for the auto down button you can eliminate the <1watt load if it was an issue. Not sure how I ever found the button in the night.

I was trying to figure out an elegant way to remove that green lamp. Let me know what you guys ended up doing.

Too much hassle for me I just try to drive my 80 once ever 2 weeks.:meh:

I agree, I was merely curious. I'm leaving mine alone.

I like this idea a whole hell of a lot. :hhmm:

Going to try and find time this weekend for doing this mod.

Should be pretty damn easy to mount a remote window down switch in a hidden location...

How about a timer circuit with a trigger switch on the door handle. Hold the handle up for 30 seconds continuously, kicks in the window down relay. No-one should normally hold the door handle up for 30 seconds, so unless you knew about it, it wouldn't naturally occur. Could all be wired inside the drivers door... Lock your keys in, just hold the handle up...

I need to swap out my drivers door handle soon, I'll look for a simple switch mount while I'm in there...

So, if I take an input signal to a time delayed relay, and after 30 seconds of input, the relay triggers and outputs for 5 seconds.. that should work no? Haven't really played much with input time delays...
