Will a FJ62 Diff fit into a 97 FZJ80 FF axle? Will splines be the same? (1 Viewer)

Swapping in a full float axle this weekend along with chevy springs. Need to know if my diff with ARB will fit with no issues on a newer FZJ80 FF axle. Need to make sure splines on axles shafts from axle also match FJ62 diff splines....

Yes but I will qualify this. I have swapped in a non-locked FZJ80 diff into a 60 series rear semi-floater axle housing so I'm basing my answer on my limited experience. Splines on axle shafts and driveshaft pattern flanges are the same.

You are good to go. They are fully compatible.

Thanks Peter! Wanted to make sure there weren't any surprises this weekend. I'll be at a friend's shop very close to you in Simi. Come by Fri night or this weekend and say hi.

This only works for front 80 diff going to 60 rear diff. Correct?

No, rear diffs only. Front 80 diff is a different size than the front or rear 60 series diff therefore a front 80 diff will not work in a 60 series housing.

all 9.5" diffs work in all 9.5" axle applications...just gotta leave out the c-clip spacer on a full floating installation...
