Which bolt-n-go aftermarket FJ40 seat?

I have the Procar Rally Lumbars 1200. Really like them. Step up from the 1000's. But they aren't cheap. About 370 a seat. But the most comfortable seat I've had the pleasure of sitting in.

GA Architect recommended these yesterday in a question I posed. Could you elaborate a bit more on your thoughts (maybe some additional photos?). I'm very interested in these but I'm concerned about getting the seat bottom cushion low enough (I'm 6'4"). Any mounting thoughts would also be appreciated.

Thanks.

To the OP, I hope you don't mind my questions on your thread.

I had the same question about 4 months ago, same year 40 and PM'ed GA Architect about his.

Ended up with Procar Pro-90's, ordered them from Summit Racing with the adaptors and free shipping. I was going to have my stock seats redone but the cost from several shops was the same as the Procar's. (and they were going to just replace the bad foam not all of it.)

My FJ has a 4 inch lift and 33's , I felt that the Rally seats might be tougher to get into with the taller thigh seat bottom. Sure look comfortable though.

Then I sold the stock seats on Craigslist for $250 and offset the cost of the new seats.

I love these seats and would do it all over again

I am really liking the looks of those Pro-90's; they look a lot like my stock (12/79) seats. Thanks for posting the photos.

What was the cost of the seats and brackets. I like the looks of those seats.

I paid $750 with free shipping from Summit Racing (it came out to $749.88 exactly)

In my particular case I really like these Pro-90's and the look of "close to stock". However, I'm sure based on my experience the rest of their product line would be money well spent whichever you choose. If I was putting them in a lower vehicle I was stepping into instead of stepping up to as I do for my FJ, I may have chosen the Rally seats.

You may wonder what you waited for.....I did

Those have to be the most stock looking aftermarket seats I've ever seen. They look great.

Well I pulled the trigger on some ProCar's. Feel's good to take another step forward in my frame off fixer-upper. Lord knows I've had many steps backwards. Wasatch Jay, your questions helped out this post, so thanks for standing beside me to ask for some help. Cheers everyone!

Not sure what year your FJ40 is, but below are the Procar Rally Seats & Seat brackets that I installed in my '77. I was able to view and sit in them before I made the purchase. Here is the thread on my install, New Procar Rally......

My $0.02 worth - "I'd suggest, before plunking down the coin on some new seats, you need to be sure you have tested & sat in them."

Are you still in love with your ProCar seats? Also, what width is your Huffy console and how difficult was it to mount? Thanks for your help.

With over 40,000 miles sitting in them (Procar Rally XL's), yep, still love them. I have had about 8 hours (+/-) of seat-time in them at one sitting, for about 400 miles. They are comfy on the street as well as off road.

The Tuffy 023-01 console I use is the 6.5" wide version, and was a breeze to mount with their FJ40 specific base. I have made a modification to the front cup holders that I need to post in my thread. I removed the Tuffy two cup unit and installed two of these:

Thanks for your help. Your setup is sharp. My dad was an architect, studied at The University of Texas, he was also a great mechanic. He just understood how things work. It was handed down to my daughter who now builds houses and other structures with 3-D printers, she has a gift. Be safe!

Gage, I really like the stock look. How are the Pro-90’s holding up? Are they staying comfortable? Did you get ProCar’s brackets, if so were you able to affix the console to the brackets or did you have to make some changes. Will the female end of the seatbelts attach to the inside of the seats? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The post you replied to was from 9 years ago so I’ll answer your question.

In my 4/80 truck, I used the stock sliders mounted to the procars, no mounting bracket needed.

I’ve only had mine for a few months but I love them. However, my oem seats were trashed and terribly uncomfortable so these are a huge upgrade.

Also, they were less expensive than just the foam bottoms and shipping. Would still need the covers.

All in all very happy.

FWIW, I've had my ProCar 90's for 3-4 years now, and still love them. So much more comfortable than stock.

I did use the ProCar brackets on my 1980; they were poorly made and needed cutting and grinding to work. My 1980 seat belt stalks just mount to the floor, not to the seat brackets. Likewise, my Tuffy console is bolted to the floor (tub). It fits just fine between the seats; the front of each seat just barely touches the radio caddy of the Tuffy.

1911 Thanks. That’s very helpful. I like the seat bracket that Corbeau offers but doubt it would align with the ProCar seats. Currently I have the original bench seat with bucket setup and it’s been rough on my back. They are telling me it will take up to 16 weeks to get the ProCar bracket made. Maybe I just adapt my current bracket to fit the ProCar sliders. The 90’s look sweet.

I also like your choice in handguns!

FWIW I have all the ProCar mounting stuff (not the brackets but the sliders etc) still in the boxes they came in. If you want/need those to mess with you are welcome to get ahold of me.

I appreciate the offer but I used my original slider for my driver side then adapted theirs for my passenger side. Great seats, so much difference. Thanks for your help👍🏼
