No you weren't, traffic was movin alright. 06 GX white.

Very, there are adjuster wheels on the back.

And to the GX population comments, I live in an area of Atlanta that has a huge housewife population. You should see the guys driving the family in their GX when they see mine lol.

I think every third car here is a Lexus SUV

oh yeah not as popular here in Cajun Country ... most housewifes drive the Gm Acadian, Traverse, Enclave mid size suv .... like my wife
when i do see a gx on the road i like to pull next to them at a red light to see if they notice we have the same car ... :doubletake::confused:

Sorry there arent many in the city of Central where i live ... I imagine when you go in the Big city you see a lot more... im sure you can find a few in the town center parking lot

So today I was at an appointment at the hospital(just jumping through hoops on my way to back surgery) and when I came out I found a note stuck to the window of my GX... It read " love your GX I've been looking to do the same to mine..." And went on to ask me if I wouldn't mind emailing them the set up I have and or details about and if I had a build on expo... While I do have some posts over there about this rig most of my posting over there is from my 4runner (guess I'm gonna need to change that). Anyhow I directed them here in my email and told them about my Instagram hashtag #wheelinluxury . so who knows maybe I won't be the only wood grain warrior running around Portland #wgw.

It's kinda funny and my wife and I got a good little chuckle over it, because one of the reasons for getting the GX and leaving it appear largely stock was to stop getting people gawking and stopping me in parking lots or at the gas station and asking me a million ridiculous questions or trying to impress me or one up me with their stories of them and JimBob and Kooter and their dog Hank and Kooters bad ass big truck that killed Sasquatchs mate when they were out wheeling with the prom queen. Anyhow I'm not saying this guy is in anyway like that, in fact quite the opposite. I take this as true flattery that someone was actually able to notice the subtle differences and appreciate them. While yes I like to be different from others and be unique, it is nice to have a partner in crime and a cohort. With my 4runner there is another guy in town here who has a sunfire read 3rd gen lifted on 35, we both are running safari snorkels, and we both have roofracks with lights on them, and for a while we both has the tundra split 5 spoke wheels, and we both have yellow labs. From a distance and or seeing the rigs in traffic especially passing in the opposite direction they would look almost identical at first glance. But there were still some differences. But it was nice having a twin. So I wouldn't mind a GX twin I suppose

:)

The GX gets a ton of conversations for me too. Just means it was a good choice!

When I had a lifted white duramax with a light bar ... I used to get waves on the road from a lady whos husband also had lift white duramax ... she would alway akwardly pull her hand down when she realized I wasnt her husband. ... but I was alway frantically over waving back at her with an open mouth smile ... luckily I knew her husband and we like to make fun of it!!

So I found out that we have a 245hp rototiller... I hope they wanted their field rototilled...

Well yesterday I finally had back surgery so I won't be doing much to the Lexus for a while. Intact my wife will probably be driving it mostly now, she drove it yesterday and loved it(big surprise right?). But that's OK with me, I'm happy she likes it and doesn't complain about using it. Anyhow on Monday I went up to Mt Hood to play in the snow as Sunday and Monday we received the biggest snow storm in the area in the last two years. If you're not for here or didn't know, our last winter sucked, ski resorts all lost money, we had a drought and terrible fire season because we had the worst snow pack on record ever. So to say it was the biggest storm in two years isn't really saying much but snow level dropped to 2500' and 3-6" was expected there with over 20" expected above 5000'. I wanted one last outing and wanted to get into the snow with the GX and the new tires to see how she does -when we get snow down at our level (around 500') the wife will be driving the Lexus so I want to know it will be safe for her.

I went up with a another guy and his 99 4runner -I always like having a second rig and his had a winch too along with a factory locker. Anyhow we were not planning on going wheeling just exploring and sight seeing. I wanted to go to a few of my favorite spots but two of them have been closed off and that was disappointing. We stopped off at a boat ramp and took some pictures at s awesome lake and then deacided to go to one more place and spend the rest of our daylight there. Well on our way out we came upon a mess... Two guys in a newer wrangler had tried turning around and got to close to the edge and slid down into the ditch. Who ever they were trying to help was long gone by the time we showed up, and by then those tow and made a valiant effort to get out but with bald tires and no locker or chains it was a waste of gas for them. When we showed up there was another car there having troubles of its own, a newer Acura RL with awd. If he had had better tires he would of been fine, in fact all 4 vehicles we had to recover had bad/bald tires. There was also a Suzuki Vitara that had gotten stuck and they were totally in awe how I was able to driver around them and grab the Acura and tow it like a toy. Then there was this Subaru Legacy wagon being driven by stoners, and bald tires, these guys had the best tires but they were still crap, probably 25-30% tread left. If they had just waited and not been so impatient they probably would have been fine. Anyhow they slid down to the inside for the corner just past the Jeep and got stuck. Subarus are heavy cars holly crap! I tried pulling him straight ahead to get him back into the middle of the road, but it felt like he just had his parking brake on. I was able to move him about a car length but it only got him closer to the edge, so I stopped. Then I went and hooked my strap to him and pulled him sideways up onto the road. This was just as easy as pulling him forwards it seemed. Just as I was doing g this some jackass in a dodge pickup came down the road and didn't want to stop or wait, even though I motioned for him to stop and wait. We had a nice little come to Jesus talk about things... And while I was finishing up with the Subaru he decided it was a good idea to turn around. (On a slick hill mind you, with, yeup you guessed it crappy tires. Anyhow he got turned all the way around only to become stuck in the middle of the road about half way down the hill. This ment I was able to get the Subaru up to just about where he was and not be able to go any further, I just spun and spun (lockers would have been great - the traction control was just overwhelmed. As I was unhooking the kid in the dodge came over and had the balls to ask if I could tow him, and I said sure for $100 cash. He didn't and went back to shoveling 3" of snow. I drove off leaving the Subaru where it was. I was planning on coming back for it bit first I wanted to take more air out of my tires. I had dropped down to 20 or 25psi I don't remember, but now was going to go down to about 8 to really get traction. Just as I was finishing up the dodge was able to move under its own power up and out of the road. Once the dodge was gone the Subaru was able to get going as well so they both made it out.

This left us with our first vehicle that jeep. My first attempt at pulling him got him too close for comfort to a small fir tree, which we had to deal with. We decided that it would be best and easiest to just winch him out with my buddy's winch, plus he had just gotten it and installed it so he was excited to get to put it to use. But the Jeep was stuck good enough down off the road about 4' down the embankment that it was just pulling his 4runner into the Jeep, so I took my Lexus over and anchored it to his 4runner and that quickly solved that problem. This recovery would have been a lot easier had we had a snatch block, but I left mine at home, and his winch has synthetic cable not wire cable like mine, so I would have not wanted to use my snatch block had I even had it with me. But after about 5min of winching we had him out. By this time we had eaten up all of our remaining day light so it was time to head home.

We got back to the hwy and I used my compressor to air all 3 of us back up, yeup the ARB filled 12 tires from about 8-15psi up to 30 with only skipping one beat. It got warm enough after 7 tires that it shut off to cool down. I wend over and picked up some clean fresh snow and started packing around the compressor and went back at it. The snow kept the compressor cool enough to finish the job with no more issues. By now it was dark and I was cold wet and hungry and sore. Climbed into the Lexus and had a very comfy ride home.

The two guys in the Jeep were the only ones kind enough to offer us any compensation. They both emptied their wallets and came up with like $20, I told them to give it to my buddy who's winch was what got the job done but he also declines and we just told him to pay it forward. I had no problem helping them out but I was kinda shocked that no one else even offered to give us more than a thank you. 4 stoners in a newish Subaru Legacy, a guy in a Acura RL, and another guy with his elderly mother in the Suzuki... It would of been a long long night for them had we not shown up. -no cell signal, and none of them knew what road they were on.

Oh well it was a fun day and my buddy got to bag his first Jeep. Can hardly complain about that! I'll post pictures soon.

Good on you for doing the right thing, and lending a hand. (It's part of the fun, too...IMO)

I had a punk kid, years ago, tell me "the chain don't work for free" when I was stuck in the middle of nowhere. Not cool.

Anyway, good luck with your back surgery recovery. Get back out there soon...!

its mounted into the structural of the roof. under those black weather stripping that run up from the body along the windshield and back to the end of the roof... its nutcerted into to the roof to keep things water tight and clean looking.
I want a pair. Have looked at a few options but most stick out and this is low-profile. Looks good.
You have a contact name there you dealt with on this project before I just start calling.
