10W-40.

I had heard that FullSynth was not advised for high mileage engines.....I have only owned it for a year so who know what it had before but it would be safe to bet not any brand of synthetic.

A friend of mine is the Marketing Manager for Castrol oils (South America) and is ok to go full synthetic. They even have a 10W-40 full synthetic high millage.

That is the one that I use in my 80 located in North Carolina.

Both oils contain seal swellers.
Can't expect rubber gaskets to last 20 yrs.
Most are a one afternoon job with right tools to change

I did try 20-50 in my 3fe, when it was beating itself to pieces, just for giggles. It amazed me how thick that stuff was. Like syrup.

15w40 is good to go though!

I run 10w40 Castrol GTX high mileage. Better oil pressure than the 10w30 I was running previously. Reminds me that I need to do the valve cover gasket and the oil pump cover gasket soon.

5-40 rotella all day erry day!

If you're not getting below zero you could run a 20W-50 if you wanted to. I stick to 5W-30 or 15W-40, just depends on what's cheapest at the time.

I used 20W-50 (South Florida), North Carolina..... anyone using 20W-50 in this type of weather?

Who cares, good filter, change it regularly. Sounds like you don't have to worry about cold temps, so I would have price drive some of my decision too.

Whatever it says in my owners manual.milage HG job at 233,000 miles I don't add a drop of oil even if I go 5000 Between changes. I don't think that milage needs to effect oil choice in a healthy engine.

Before HG job I burned a at every 800 regardless of oil I used.

I was on M1 5-30 for a long time, but recently went to M1 10-30 High Milage

I want to say the oilcap recommends 5-30, but we're all beyond our 1st 100K.

I also prefer the 1515 oil filter (Napa Gold / Wix), since the real 'Yota ones are gone Johnson.

I'm just up in Skagit Valley, so we're in the same zone / climate.

Did you do your valve stem seals when you did your HG? That was where I lost oil & after the HG/ stem seals I'm like you, no real use between changes (under 1/4 qt -3K miles, and that's even generous - more like a 1/8" drop on dipstick / 3K miles.)

That's old advice, and basically no longer relevant with modern oils.

I agree, but still some people don't know it.

Valvoline MaxLife 10W-30 here. It's a very good semi-synthetic, IMHO. My truck purrs, the oil is dirt cheap on Amazon.
