What is the largest tire I can fit with no lift?

Let's put it this way, I jumped my lx at about 50mph 3-4ft high and the tire rubbed the TOP of inside front wheel well, which tells me it would destroy my fender at full steering lock... Also I banged my pinch weld flat and adjusted the steering stop.

How about the folks with the 18" rims? Lots of info and threads out there for the 16" rims but not much for the folks running 18's. I'm looking at the 275/70/18's (33.3"x11") and the 295/65/18 (33.1"x11.5"). I am confident those will fit, but would like to know how much bigger I can go. there are a couple companies that make a 305/65/18 (33.7" x 12") which might work but I would love confirmation on that. I WILL be installing a 2"-2.5" lift up front and a 1.5" out back. All parts have already been ordered. There is also the 295/70/18 (34.3" x11.5") which I think might be the perfect size for my rig, but don't want to commit to that before I here of others running that size or similar with 2-2.5" lift. Pics of any of these tire sizes on rigs would be fantastic. Stock height or lifted.

I have 285/65r18 BFG AT TA's on stock suspension Diameter = 32.5 per the web site
Totally fine no rub fill up pretty good, minor off road so far, just around the family farm no issues. This is slightly bigger than stock
I hope to go 295/70 R18 Nitto Trail Grapplers for my next set.

I guess I'm beating a dead horse here, but it seems like for the 16", there really isn't a consensus. Basically from what I've read, 285/75/16 will absolutely fit, 295/75/16 is a YRMV it may fit w/o rubbing, it may not. Only reason I ask is I'm going to be in the market for new tires for my 100 soon, and I want an upgrade from the 275/70/16 A/S Michelin's I currently have.

This. They will get you plenty of places and into plenty of trouble. :)
Those are the new BFGs, correct? How are they on tarmac? Pricepoint to comparable-sized tires?

I run 285/75.....295/75 fit but rub at full bump, full lock.

287/75 is the way to go.

^this.

295s rub a lot with stock suspension. I bought my 99 with stock suspension and brand-new 295 all-terrain's and drove it across the country. Perfect on the tarmac, a substantial amount of rubbing on even the relatively mild off-road trails I did on my way back including a few days in the San Rafael swell and a few of the Ouray/Telluride area trails.

What you describe is rare, as there are a number of people (including me) who run 295/75R16s off road without any worrisome rubbing.
Were you on factory wheels?
Also, suspension has no effect on whether a tire fits or not. If it rubs stock, it will rub on bigger coils and torsion bars.

Most of the time it's the alignment that will cause one vehicle to rub and the exact same vehicle with the same tires not to rub. I have even had vehicles that rub on one side and not the other.

Very good point.

Looks like we are at odds again. My 100 is my DD, so I will probably never do anything more than light-to-intermediate wheeling, and it will spend most of the time on tarmac. The 285s are looking more attractive based on pricepoint and available selection. Maybe I should ask this: is there an iron-clad, gotta-have-it reason for choosing 295s over 285s? Thoughts?

Edit: I am planning on keeping factory wheels, stock suspension, etc. Maybe a TB adjustment, but that's it.

wider you go the more traction. 285 is plenty for what you describe

Tire size is king off road. Period.
However, you would probably not notice the difference based on what you describe.

Revisiting this, I've been reading up on a few threads where 100 owners have sprung for the Tundra 18" wheels. Has anyone here run both 285 or 295 75 16s and also run 275 70 18s on the same rig at one time or another? Was there a noticeable difference in on/off road ride quality, ground clearance, mileage, wear etc? I like the idea of grabbing some Tundra wheels off ebay, I just wanted some feedback from 100 owners who have run both setups on the same rig.
