I can confirm that 275/70R18 fits completely.
The 305/65R18 nominal size is a wee bit bigger than 295/75R16, so it might be close.
295/70R18 is nominally close to 315/75R16, so I doubt it will completely fit.

I will also echo that suspension lift (t-bars and rear coils/spacers) is irrelevant to tire fit.

Are you confirming that 275/70/18 fits on completely stock 100 series with original AHC only? Thread is kinda hard to follow so I just want to make sure.

I can confirm that, yes. 275/70/18 has been 100% safe for me. 06 LX stock AHC. Lots of time in parking lots in low and lots of trail time. Zero rub at any point. Stock wheels and no spacers.

Thanks for the clarification and specifics. Seems like a solid tire option that gives it enough beef without putting too much strain on the truck. Has that size been good for ride quality and not killing the MPG too bad?

Mpg isn't great, I think you're splitting hairs between a 33.3 and a 32.5" tire, ya know. Unless you're running stock size highway tires, they all suck a little mpg away.

Ride quality is so subjective, but matters more which specific tire you get than size. If you get c rated it's plenty cushy. E rated is pretty firm unless aired way down. I don't mind E-rated at all, but my wife hated them on my 99LC. She's ok with them on the LX with AHC.

Thanks for all the info. Coming from a F-150 w/ 35s so I’m used to a stiff, bumpy ride...and bad MPG. Hopefully now I can find someone to put a larger tire on.

I’m surprised that I don’t see more 295/70/17’s on here, or 17’s, period. I get why 16’s and 18’s are more common on 100’s but to me there seems to be just so many more tire options in 17”. It’s hard to ignore.

Yep but you can find some nice builds based on 17" wheels. I'll probably stick with my stock 18" but check out this from Four Wheeler: How To Build A Toyota Land Cruiser For Overlanding And Four-Wheeling

What a great thread. I bought my '07 TLC (189k mi) at start of summer just for recreation (not a daily driveR). I did a clinic with my local off-roading club, then joined for an overnight in the Sierra Nevada's. The trail leader wisely advised my to just join the 2nd day for the much easier trail, which my stock '07 TLC barely managed (and the paint job will never be the same).

We landed pretty hard on the underside about 2-3 times each down & back (including the trailer hitch hard enough it sits unevenly under the rear bumper (along with a broken wiring connection). So I definitely need to upgrade from the stock 275/60/18 Continentals before the next outing and will add sliders etc. but first job is to upgrade the tires.

I figure I need to get to ~33" to get another inch of clearance for the axles. This was a great forum. I figure I'd share this list I put together by height of all the sizes mentioned here, using the size calculator from TacomaWorld.com. There's lots of calculators out there but I liked this one because it compares 2 sizes (so I can see what I'm gaining in size), saves your history of comparisons, and tells you the difference in your speedometer and gear ratio/RPM's.

I'm going to dive into the world of offsets and backspacing now, then decide if it's worth the money to change my from OEM 18" wheels to a 16" or 17" wheel. If I stick with the 18" -ers, I'll probably go with a straightforward 275/70/18.

Anyway, here's the list of all the different diameters I came across on the thread (with some notes from those posting, although some opinions differed):
  • 275/60/18 - 30.99 in (stock)
  • 275/70/16 - 31.16 in
  • 265/75/16 - 31.65 in
  • 285/65/18 - 32.59 in
  • 285/70/17 - 32.71 in
  • 305/70/16 - 32.81 in
  • 285/75/16 - 32.83 in ( 3/4" to plastic wheel well place… will absolutely fit)
  • 255/85/16 - 33.07 in ( fit just fine)
  • 275/70/18 - 33.16 in ( will fit, no rub at turn, no rub at full stuff )
  • 295/75/16 - 33.42 in ( 0.5-1" clearance turning, YRMV, "they'll fit fine", fits in spare location)
  • 305/65/18 - 33.61 in
  • 285/70/18 - 33.71 in
  • 285/75/17 - 33.85 in ( will not fit in spare location w/ stock trailer hitch )
  • 295/70/18 - 34.26 in ( doubt it will fit)
  • 315/75/16 - 34.60 in ( doubt it will fit)
  • 285/75/18 - 34.83 in
  • 295/75/18 - 35.42 in
I'll comment on this with pics when I've done the upgrade. In the meantime here are a couple pics from the trip in the Sierra Nevadas.

I just bought an 06 LC with AHC and need new tires. I'm leaning 275/70R18. Anyone have new photos for inspiration? I was thinking Falken Wildpeak, but their website says they are 33.4" x 11" and I'm concerned about that fitting in the spot for a spare with a factory hitch. Can anyone confirm this exact set-up works and if so, any spare tire mods needed? I will still need the hitch for a bike rack, but not likely to tow. Thanks!

That is the most commonly used tire size on this board. It works. You may have trouble fitting the spare if the hitch isn't OEM.

I know it's a very commonly used size here, but the Falken tire runs a bit bigger than others so I was hoping for feedback on that exact model with the Toyota factory hitch on a newer 100 series (I think there are some fitment differences on different years). I had to do the spare tire mod on my 2000 LC to fit a 285/75R16 K02 and that was over a 1/2" smaller and very tight if I recall correctly. I don't want to buy a tire that won't fit in the spare location with a matching 5th. Anyone running Wildpeak in 275/70R18? Thanks!

Indeed. Great tire so far.
I do kinda wish I had tried 305/70-18 though... 😈
I just ordered bora spacers for my 275/70/18’s so I will likely try to do 295/70/18 with the spacer next time I need tires. I was originally contemplating being patient and doing 305/65/18 but at the rate I’m driving my truck I didn’t want to wait two years for wider stance.

Has anyone run 305/60/18s on OEM wheels? 2007 LX at stock height. I'm interested in the extra width of a 305 but not so much the height of the 65 aspect ratio. Wondering if the folks who have had rubbing on 305/65/18s were rubbing due to the height of the tire, the width or both?

295 or wider will rub frame at full lock with the stock offset wheels. You’ll need spacers or different offset wheels.
