Changed the oil...doesn't sound like much but this pitiful cruiser was found in the woods (and has been described by a fellow Mud member as "something even a homeless person wouldn't live in")--with a lot a prayer the old oil filter came off in one piece---This 40 has a 350 and had a Fram PH 13 but the O'Really folks had not heard of it........

anybody know what the current Fram filter that replaced PH 13? Or is it still in production and they didn't know their stuff?
(I just put a Wix filter on).

Personally, I prefer the wix or napa gold filters (which I think are made by wix anyway). I stay away from fram filters.....but that's a whole 'nother ball of wax.

"something even a homeless person wouldn't live in"

who would say such a thing???

Just slightly better than a cardboard box

Obviously I will be ordering parts from Trollhole and the classifieds as time goes by:

C'mon Dave, only one pic?

You're going to chrome those coil-over shocks, right?

Got mine in the shop to have the floor pans replaced and half doors capped. Can't wait to get it back.

LOL....sorry Paul. I'm too ashamed (they may see the garden hose used as door rubber and the depressing interior)--I sent you the last pics I will show of this beast. So much to do:bang:

Finished re-build of 8274 winch, installed new Man-A-Fre 4+ bumper to hold it:

Made my steering column to firewall mounting plate, cut the openings for the lights, winch, and bracket to secure the lights on the backside. Pics when I paint it.

Found another lt1 engine with computer for the cruiser. I'll have to swap them out once I finally get it home.

biscuitlips, that looks pretty much like what I have in mind for doing one day, but what provision have you made to prevent rainwater from ending up in the air filter? This is an issue at times in various parts of BC.

Hi Kootenay Kruzer,
actually I haven't made any provisions....yet! I'm not sure what type of filter/canister you have but if your canister is anything like mine you can switch it from snorkel to engine compartment intake with a wing nut. My canister has a closing shield on the inside that you can adjust!

The top of the snorkel you can put a snorkel like sock of water proof type sock on it. another alternative to ponder is that find a low spot in the snorkel hose that runs to the filter and tap in a petcock valve to drain any moisture that may be present.

It actually reminds me a little bit of when I brought my blue 45 home. Big gaudy boat hood ornament drilled right thru the middle of the stock hood spear, big rectangular boat vent screen in front of the radiator, ashtray replaced with a plate and an hour meter [by this point I figured out the PO was a boat guy!] and I don't even remember what the front bumper looked like. Hole in the windshield, passenger vent window missing, 27" tires. Big dent in the driver's rear corner of the cab where a tree had fallen on the truck.

What can I say?

Love at first sight!:bang:

It's good to be with peeps that understand the addiction.

I bought new spring bushings for it

biscuitlips, any pics of the snorkel plumbing inside the engine compartment? And any detail pics of your setup, especially attaching points.

What I did

oil change, installed a rear diff with a good pinion bearing, scuffed and resprayed the nose, got the charging system going again, replaced rear shackle bushings, sent out the master cylinders to get sleeved and rebuilt, and got the soft top frame back on her. I'm almost ready for spring!
