The truck is looking amazing! Congrats on getting it running. I'm sure you turned a few heads driving down the road not just for the great looking truck, but because of the crazy grin you musta been wearing the whole time.

'71 FJ40: Removed original rear wheel bearings/races and replaced with new; new differential spacer, spider gears, cleaned the old lube/crud from the bore of the axle housing with rifle cleaning rod, added fresh gear oil. It is amazing now no rear end noise....did not know how much noise the old bearings created. The original races were worn out. New brake cylinders and shoes. Fresh Dot3 synthetic and bled/adjusted to firm high pedal. Pics below:

Cleaned down to spacer

got my new "USED HEADER "installed, had it re-surfaced at a race /machine shop this week( $20 bucks), had it installed with TOYOTA OEM gasket, used Permatex® Ultra Copper® around each exhaust port, installed a Summit collector on header---- only place that had 2 1/2"one:rolleyes:---- i had timing set, adjusted carb. plugged a vacuum leak, tighten alt. bracket and belt. This "Ole Gal" runs so QUITE now.....AMAZING:D..and drove the rig about 90 miles yesterday.......fun in the sun:steer::steer::steer:

New plug wires, new smog pump belt, replaced speedo cable from transmission to speed sensor, unhooked vacuum line to carb power valve, and drove it to work every day,(through snow and ice Thursday)!

Thought my GM 1-wire alternator had a bad bearing, and was preparing to replace it.

As it turns out, the fan belt had chunks missing and was making a nasty racket.

Sometimes it's nice finding out the fix is a lot cheaper than what you expected.

Rebuilt the steering box with a new sector roller and a new bushing for the side cover, reinstalled the misplaced rear hatch inspection cover [sans the head-whacking inside handle!] installed a homemade headrest behind the front seats [on the rollbar] started some camp-friendly mods on the stock tire carrier, finished cutting the paint on the stock hood, finished welding up the dent repair in the passenger front fender, installed rear u-bolt skid plates, installed satellite radio.

Gotta start gathering spare parts for the trek!
