...Dianna came running into the garage and said, "they're fighting next door!! It sounds really bad!! I called 911!!".

I don't want to get into all the details of the long winded statement I had to write for the police. But, the gist of it is that 3 guys pistol-whipped the 20-something girl next door, asking for drugs and money. She has a propensity for bringing riff raff home with her... she says she didn't know them, but they pulled into the driveway right behind her. She works in some part of the 'pleasure' industry...

When I saw them driving off inan SUV, I flagged a cop outside our gate and pointed at them... he took off after them, with lights and siren and I started home (100') and heard 3 gunshots... then I heard the neighbor girl screaming, "please help me!". I ran back and found her in her 'over the back fence' neighbor's yard... she was wearing white pants and black bra and was covered in blood (she was high on something, perhaps only adrenaline). I got the neighbor to open his door and assured him the gentlemen were gone. I assured the girl they were gone and, after asking several times, I learned her twin daughters were at grandma's. Whew!!

She said, "They pistol-whipped her and kept asking for the drugs and money"...

The gentlemen crashed the SUV (turned out to be stolen) about a mile away and fled on foot... the cops caught one and the other two carjacked a landscaper's GMC pickup WITH TRAILER and slipped away... Here's the article Police officer shot at in NLV, suspect in custody....

Good heavens Danny!

Glad no-one was hurt.

Thankfully that kind of drama would be unlikely to happen in my city, let alone my immediate neighbourhood.. In fact, it would be headline news nationwide if it occurred anywhere in this country!

The girl was hurt. They pistol-whipped her about the head... fractured her cheekbone and a couple of cuts on her head. But, she'll be fine... hope she learned a lesson as well.

But, no cops or residents hurt... and the cops never fired a shot. Not sure how they escaped in a stolen pickup, pulling a trailer... but, they you go...

That kind of drama happens frequently around here... just not in our neighborhood.

I told her dad she needs to quit bringing this crap into the our gated community.. she seems drawn to thugs.

I really don't believe that she didn't know these guys... I've seen the same sort over there several times.

Wow! I bet you do keep a loaded gun handy, think I'd carry one on me at all times around there....and a short black rifle too lol. Glad to hear the kids were with grandma.

I'm planning to do some upgrades; paint the wheels to match the Toyota grey color and also look for an Old Man Emu lift kit.

Oh that slippery slope!

Looks good, Mike!!

Is 14+ appropriate for you?

Is the engine stock?

What lift are you considering?[/QUOTE]

Thanks Danny! Yeah they forgot the zero 140+
It's definitely an F series motor, and also planning some upgrades; paint the wheels to match the Toyota grey color and also look for an Old Man Emu lift kit. I can see a parallel money trail coming!

Sorry - I meant "glad no-one else got hurt" of course.

While many of us here think our "quality of life" is deteriorating from increasing poverty levels, increasing drug use and anti-social behaviour, increasing crime etc .... one thing in our favour (on top of our low population numbers) is that it's not easy for our low-level/emerging thugs/criminals here to get handguns.

Drove it!

I'm not a horse guy, but I am a horse husband...so when the wife has a sick horse, and a family vacation, I get to take the 40 over to her barn and shove medicine in a horse's eye.

Needless to say, the horse is not pleased with the experience, nor am I pleased with dealing with a 1000lb pissed off animal.

The cruiser seems to be enjoying the weather. Aside from the usual wandering idle issue (it picked 850rpm today) it's running like a top.

As soon as the garage renovation (now 2 months behind schedule) is compete - it's going back under the knife for a long overdue driveline overhaul.

It certainly makes that picture even more gorgeous!!

Cool vid!!
Who's selling these?

@skidplate I added a link to Carter Installation Instructions to post#11285

I plan to integrate Carter P4070 Electric fuel pumps into my my fuel delivery system when we return from Colorado in late July, to augment the the OEM fuel pump fuel flow... When needed... Primarily on steep climbs.

The electric pumps need to be near and below the fuel tank they service, as well as below the carb.

So, I'm presently re-designing my fuel delivery system, for my 01/78 FJ40, and want to be sure I don't waste time and effort and an electric pump....

QUESTION
:

Electric fuel pumps are pushers (rather than suckers), they are gravity fed... Hence the 'install below the tank' requirement.

My main tank is OEM, so no problem there... The fuel feeds from the bottom of the tank.

My aux tank feeds from the top of the tank... Will an electric pusher pump work with this top-feed tank if my OEM mechanical pump fails? Or, is it a waste to even install an electric pump on the aux tank?

I can do this several different ways and the intent behind the electric pump is more security (backup when/if OEM pump fails in a remote location.... I don't want to have to lay with scorpions again), than performance (it will be switched to allow 'as required' augmentation or backup capability).

I could just as easily (actually easier) only mount an electric pump to the OEM main tank feed... I always run my aux tank down before switching to main tank. So, if I have fuel left, it will, always be in the main tank anyway.

Comments?

@bikersmurf I know you run two tanks, with a single Carter and no OEM pump.. What have you experienced?

Thanks!!
