@ChetGunray - Thanks! My fenders are cut...(very slightly) and I have about 3/4inch longer than stock shackles front and rear - been debating whether I could wedge 33x10.5's under there without a lift.

So, for clarification, you went with OME 2.5in lift springs as well, correct (not just shackles)?

Yes, the 2.5 Heavy Duty springs.

This week I finished a sm420 and new f 155 engine install along with a spring over axle. New shock hoops front and rear disc brakes. Twin stick transfer. Rear anti wrap traction bar. Rear lunch box locker. Shackel reversal along with new front and rear bumpers, home made swing out tire carrier. Front winch ,double steering arm. Weber carb install. Toyota mini truck brake master. Electric fan. On my 69 tlc. It has taken me a year but the wait was worth it.

If this gets you in time a little advice on the winch dissemble. After you take out the keys file down the burr left on the slots before you pull the drum. If you don't the will scar the bushings.

We pulled the top off the fj40 yesterday. I figured out pretty quickly, its more than the wife and I could lift. So, solution was to get two teenage boys across the street to help lift it off and set it safely down. Success!!!
Good news, no rust under the edges of the top, or the top edges of the tub!! I laid the windshield down, and no rust under the windshield.
I had to fabricate new strike plates so the half doors that my friend Will gave to me would close correctly and latch. Overall a pretty good evening!

Finished up some US built, OME extened "knock-offs", haha

Got some new meats--- so glad to be in Japan for stuff like this. 7.50r16 6 ply- nice and flexy:clap:

Basically this dunlop is the tire of choice here. Cant wait to try them out. THe Sta tires that they are replacing were short lived....

Dude, I thought you did this all in a week! I was going to say that you are the man, but then I saw that you did it in a year. Well, you are still the man. Nice job.

I drove the 40 around the block and to the gas station - only to discover that the tank was not empty but the fuel gauge kaputt  (the temp gauge does not indicate properly, either, so we suspect an electrical problem at the instrument cluster

but the H55 is tight and nicely compensates for the 315 tires (too bad I couldn't wheel it this weekend; I busted my knee earlier in the week )

and with a new exhaust, it is much quieter

Damn Claudia, you need to restrict the mangling to your 40! It's much easier repaired.

Mend well!

Repaired (well actually wired, PO had just cut the wire) the license plate light.

Rewiring the reverse light now to see if it works, PO had just put in a switch...

thanks - I wheeled the LX instead ;p (and did not mangle it, except that it landed on the running board yet again )

Finished the mock up and mounting of my custom bumper. Ran 1/4 steel plate to the frame rails and bolted it on so the D-rings pull on the frame and not the bumper. Will mount a rebuilt Warn 8274 when it is done. Just need to paint and mount the winch and I am good to go. Hoping to get the rig fully rebuilt and on the road for summer. Need to rebuild/fix the mechanical full pump next.

Headstone hard to hanging in the back when I went over bumps.....like like a rear body fell off? Does anyone know where I can get the replacement for the circle one?

Finally corrected my pinion angle from my screw up when I did my initial SOA.

Where the magic happens:

Cutting the old perches off:

Set the axle at ride height, snug up the u-bolts, set the pinion angle and tack in the new perches.
14+-+16

Voila: Less than 2.5" between the DC shaft and the pinion.
14+-+2

is it just me, or does that look more like a rear motor mount bushing than a body mount?

Yes, a minitruck hi-angle CV with 11mm bolts and DIY multi-pattern flanges. I have 15* on the pinion and 17* on the DS.
Good tip on the gear oil. I am running a ruff stuff 3/8" cover in the rear, but I typically jack up the axles when filling the diffs. I've also measured the amount when i drained them to make sure I had enough oil.
