Finished my 8274 winch rebuild...

Nice! I love my awl-TEQ solenoid cover.

Turned out nice; I really like the black-out treatment. Wish I had thought of that for mine, since I have a lot of other black accessories on my 40.

Thanks fellas. I too have a lot of black accessories in the same semi gloss finish. I'm hoping it all goes together well.

I bought the winch for $400, spent $120 on Warn rebuild kits, $40 on the solenoid cover, and about $150 on the line. Still in it a good amount compared to a brand new unit.

Replaced the old N/L split charging system with a CTEK DC to DC unit that I pulled from :princess:,s 120 series before selling it.

Drove around town trying to find a place that can make me some spring green paint... no luck. :(

Finished the body work on the hood, doors and fenders. Rubber undercoated the fenders...they are loaded up and ready for the paint shop. Should get a bunch of small stuff back from the paint shop next week. Now on to the tub...time to weld in the rockers, floor boards and rear corner patches.

Changed the oil / filter, replaced the original (assumed) starter with an FJ60 starter - the increase in performance is outstanding!

hairy- apple, I painted the lawn chair with Valspar rattle can. If your'e not against rattle can, this is very close to the green your'e looking for. This paint smells remarkably like the Nason paint I used on my son's old j##p. Just a thought.

Got a emblem for the grill. Took mine off like 8 years ago and broke it trying to get it off. Finally replaced it today.

Got the 4WD emblem too, although I'm not sure I can use it because my tire carrier is in the way.

Got some hubcaps for it, going to pick up some stock wheels next week to widen and run hubcaps again.

AND found a match for Spring Green so I can repaint it to the original color again cheaply. :)

Trying to hunt down some later model seat mounts and gong to get some procar seats to get a more vintage look.

Most importantly, I feel like I've got a vision for what I want it to be again. Funny thing, I've got it pretty close to the vision I had for it when I bought it, almost exactly actually... but my tastes have changed since I was 16 and now I want more of the 1960's charm back that got slowly removed to make it a "crawler".

Sweet! I love factory rims and hubcaps. Funny how our tastes change as we age.

2F Back on the Frame

Finally putting it back together after clutch disc issues, now getting more room in the shop.

washer jets

Installed new windshield washer jets. These are military types as used on M151 and other trucks. The split hood has 1/2" holes for the washer nozzles. I used 1/2" plastic shoulder washers to center them in the hole in the hood.

More info...

Where'd you get them? How well do they work? More pics?

They were purchased from ebay (washers too). They have two holes in them, I just plugged one of them. I wasn't able to get both holes to hit the windshield. The remaining hole throws a good bit of water. They work well in my opinion. I've included a picture of the jet and the washer I used.
